Covenant of Healing Part 2 Transcript
Praise the Lord, friends, we are teaching about “Covenant of Healing” today, and we’ll be talking in this program specifically about promises of healing. The Bible says that all the promises of God in Christ are yes, and Amen to the glory of God by us. God gets glory when we walk in His promises, and faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. So open your heart, receive the Word of God, and receive faith, just live in health, and to be healed. Blessed. Praise the Lord, friends, we are sharing today on the “Covenant Of Healing.” And yesterday in our program we talked about divine healing and we said, one reason that we can be healed is because God provided for our healing at the cross in the atonement. At the same time that Jesus paid for our forgiveness as believers, He paid for our healing. The Bible says, “He was wounded for our transgressions and by His stripes we are healed.” So the same blood that bought our forgiveness, bought our healing. And we have just as much right, as believers, to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins because Jesus paid for it at the same time. Another reason that we can and should be healed is because healing is the nature of God, and I’m gonna talk about that. God said in Exodus 15, He said, “I am the Lord who heals you.” And so, because He’s the Lord who heals us, we ought to receive healing as His children. Now we’re gonna look at this instance in Exodus 15, this is when the children of Israel were getting ready to come out of Egypt, and after actually they had come across the Red Sea, and they were going. So they’d come out of Egypt, across the Red Sea, getting ready to go into the wilderness on the way to the Promised Land. And it says in verse 22, “Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea and they went out into the wilderness of Shur, and they went three days into the wilderness and found no water. And when they came to Marah.” Now three days, this is interesting ’cause it’s almost like Jesus, right? Was three days in the grave, praise God, paying for our forgiveness and for our healing. And when they came to Marah, in Exodus 15:23, “They could not drink the waters of Marah for they were bitter, therefore the name of the place was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses saying, ‘What shall we drink?’ And he cried unto the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, and when he cast this tree into the waters, the waters were made sweet, for He made a statute with them and an ordinance, and He proved them.” So God proved them with this covenant. And He said, in verse 26, “If you will diligently hearken the voice of the Lord, your God, and do that which is right in His sight, and give ear to His commands, keep His statutes, I’ll put none of these diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.” Now, when we look at this and we look at Moses and see that they were in a hard place, they hadn’t had water for three days, they were crying to Moses, and Moses cried to the Lord, then the Lord showed him this tree. Did you know there are actually three trees of healing that we see in scripture? We see this tree where God showed Moses a tree and he cast it in the waters, this tree is a type of the cross, and then we see the tree that Jesus died on. In 1 Peter 2:24, it says, “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.” It’s talking about Jesus while He was on the cross bearing our sin and our sickness. And then if you read, in Revelation 22, we’re coming back to the throne of God, the river of God, the tree of life, and it says, “The leaves of these trees”, the tree of life, “is for the healing of the nations.” And then it says, “There shall be no more curse.” Thank God. That’s full circle, the Bible really is a book of redemption. And not only did Jesus die to forgive us for our sin, He died to heal us in our body. Sickness, ultimately, is a result of the original sin. You remember in John 9 with the man born blind, and the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Lord who’s sin, this man or his parents, that he’s got this sickness?” And Jesus said, “Neither.” This, ultimately, was a result of the original sin. You see, Adam’s transgression in the garden brought sin, sickness, death, disease, lack, on all of humanity, but Jesus came to redeem us, to purchase us, praise God, from that that Adam lost in the Garden. And we’re going back to the throne of God, we’re going back to the river of life, we’re going back to the tree of life, we’re going back to paradise. Revelation 2:17 says, “He who overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” That’s in Revelation 2. So thank God we have this covenant with God. Now, as we look at this, “God showed Moses a tree and as he cast this tree into the water, the waters were made sweet.” The waters were healed. Jesus died on the cross, on the tree, and He took our sickness on the cross. He took stripes, “By His stripes we were healed.” Now the Lord gave Moses this covenant, in Exodus 15:26, and said, “If you’ll diligently hearken the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in His sight, and give ear to His commands, keep all His statues.” Now I wanted to tell you, first of all, that nobody’s ever done that besides Jesus, but Jesus is the condition of this covenant. So we received the covenant promises based on the grace of Jesus Christ. And He says, here, He says, “If you’ll do that which is sight, keep ear to His, keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians.” Well, why’d He bring ’em upon Egyptians? They were fighting the people of God. You don’t wanna fight the people of God. In fact the Bible says, in Exodus 11:7, “The Lord put a difference between the Egyptians and the Israelites.” And He said, “Against the children of Israel, shall not a dog move His tongue.” Glory to God. In other words, praise God, God’s protecting them, God’s taking care of them. God takes care of His covenant people. Now you need to believe in this covenant so you can receive these covenant promises. He said, “I’ll put none of these evil diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am Jehovah-Rapha, I am the Lord who heals you.” Now there’s a lot of reasons that we can receive. We said, number one, yesterday, that we can receive healing in our body because Jesus paid for it, but we can also receive healing because it is a promise of God’s covenant. Thank God we got a Bible full of promises that we can believe, and if we believe them, then we can receive them. Hallelujah. And I’m looking for one of these promises right now, and it’s here in Exodus. He said, “I’ll bless your bread and water and take sickness from the midst of you.” Glory to God. So we can thank God, we can believe God, and we can receive the covenant of healing that this promise is. Exodus 23:25, He says, “You shall serve the Lord your God and He will bless your bread, and your water, and I will take sickness from the midst of you.” Praise God, He’s gonna take sickness away from the midst of us. So we have a covenant of healing, and there are promises of healing in this covenant that we have with God, right? We’ve already seen two here, Exodus chapter. This is just the beginning of the Bible. Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord who heals you.” Exodus 23:25, He says, He’ll bless your bread and water, “And I will take sickness from the midst of you.” Thank God we got a Bible full of promises concerning healing. Now another one is Deuteronomy 28. Deuteronomy 28 we know as the blessings and the curses of the law. And in Deuteronomy 28, the first 14 verses are blessings, but the last 56 verses are curses. Now I like to read not only the blessings, but I like to read the curses because I like to see what I’m redeemed from, because the Bible actually says, in Galatians. This is New Covenant now. Galatians 3:13-14, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us, for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.'” Verse 14, “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Praise God. So Christ purchased us out of the curse of law, He redeemed us from the curse of law because He became a curse for us. There is no reason that we need to receive the curse in our body because Jesus was cursed in our place. Now, as we look at this and begin to look at these curses, it says specifically in Deuteronomy 28, the blessing and the curse, verse 27, “The Lord will smite you”, this is under the curse, “with the botch, and with emerods, and with the scabbing, with the itch, which you cannot be healed.” Now, emerods is tumors, right? So cancer is a tumor, this is talking about cancer, so cancer is included in the curse. Now I’ve seen a lot of people healed from cancer, and here’s how a lot of ’em got healed. I explain to ’em, I take ’em to this verse, Exodus 28:27, and show them that tumors are a curse included in the curse of the law. Then I take ’em to Galatians 3:13, where Christ has redeemed us from the curse so the blessing of Abraham might come on us, and I show them that, and then I pray for them. Now I tell ’em, listen, I’m gonna curse this disease, I’m gonna curse this infirmity. And I curse that disease, and I command it to dry up at the root and die, to go into remission and leave their body, in the name of Jesus. In fact, there’s a few scriptures in the New Testament, in the Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, where you see that Jesus would spit and He would take, in one place He took mud and He, it’s in John 9, He made mud with clay, with His spit, and He stuck it on the blind man’s eyes. This is a man born blind. And Jesus said, you go to the Pool of Siloam and wash, and he went and washed and came again seeing. It was a working of miracles. Another place, He spit and touched a deaf man’s and dumb man’s tongue and his ears, and he came hearing and seeing. What Jesus, and as people said, His spit was anointed. This is what He was doing. They spit on Jesus when He was on the cross, it is a sign of the curse, and what that is saying is Jesus is saying, I curse this disease, I curse this infirmity, praise God, and then we loosed the Spirit of God. The Bible says, in Romans 8:11, “The same Spirit that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in our mortal body and quickens us.” Praise God. I just had a man testify recently, and I had had a vision on a Saturday night, this was a few years ago. I saw two envelopes there, about this thick, and on it it said, kidneys, kidneys, kidneys on both of these envelopes. I thought, God’s gonna heal people’s kidneys today. When this man came forward, he had just been diagnosed and they told him he had tumors on his kidneys. And I prayed for him, he went back to that doctor and they checked his kidneys out that week. Hallelujah. And the doctor called him on Friday and said, listen, it was just before July 4th weekend, and said, enjoy your freedom, enjoy your weekend, I wanted to get this good news out to you, there’s no tumors on your kidneys whatsoever. You are completely healed. You see, Jesus Christ is the same. I prayed for another woman that had tumors on her liver, and this was years ago in Kit Carson. These people lived out southeast of Kit Carson, actually east, East Colorado, and they were driving through. I happened to be going to Colorado Springs and they picked me up. I saw ’em and waved at ’em, and they waved at me, and they were going to Colorado Springs. I was on the way to the airport, and so we just dropped my pickup off at my house and they just took me on up to Colorado Springs, to the airport. And anyway, he told me, and they weren’t coming to my church anymore. They had prior, but they were at a different church then, but God loves you whatever church you go to, just make sure it preaches Jesus, hallelujah, and need to preach faith in the goodness of God too. But anyway, they picked me up and I was in the car and they began to tell me that she had been diagnosed with tumors in her liver. And I prayed for her, and I cursed those tumors in the name of Jesus, and I loosed the life of God, and, praise God, we got a report back within days that, praise God, the tumors were gone and her liver was healed. Praise God. Do you know, the Word of God works. I wanna tell you that Jesus Christ is the same. I wanna tell you that He’s still healing the sick. I wanna tell you, He’s still casting out, delivering the oppressed. He’s still raising the dead. Glory to God, the Bible is true, the Word of God is true, but this is just one of those examples. And so sickness is a curse, cancer is a curse, and in Deuteronomy 28:22, He talks about the botch, and emerods, which are tumors, the scab, and the itch, that you could not be healed. Verse 28 says, “With madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart, and make you crazy, and blind.” And you know what? That is a curse. Poverty’s a curse, included in the next verse, He said, “You’ll not prosper in your ways.” Now we’re talking about sickness. So poverty, sickness, and slavery, and death, is the curse of the law. So Jesus came to redeem us from sickness, and poverty, slavery to sin, and spiritual death, and when He comes again He’ll redeem us from the last enemy, which is physical death. Now in verse 35, it says, “The Lord will smite you in the knees, and the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.” Now we go on into the latter verses of this, verse 60 says, “Moreover he’ll bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they’ll cleave to you. And every sickness and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, and the Lord will bring them, until you be destroyed.” And so again, sickness and then finally death. He said, every kind of sickness and disease is part of the curse, so thank God Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us, for its written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” Friends, you can be set free from the curse of sickness by the healing power of Jesus because God gave you promises for it in His work. I’ll be right back in just a minute. Bless you. Praise the Lord, friends, we are teaching and sharing on the subject of divine healing. Thank God, Jesus made provision for us at the cross and we have just as much right to be healed in our body as we do to be forgiven for our sins, but how can we receive that in our life? We go through this in detail, and I have a healing bundle that I’m sharing with you. I wanna get this to you. The Bible says that “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” And I know these teachings will build your faith. I have, first of all, my series on “Covenant of Healing”, and then I have my series on “The Cross is the Cure”, and then we have my wife, Barbara’s, series, and she’s a powerful teacher and ministers healing in a very powerful and anointed way, on “Present To Heal” and how to receive divine healing and health in your life. And I want you to call in today and get this, it will help you build your faith and receive from God. Blessings. Praise the Lord, friends, we’ve been talking about divine healing, and we talked about how that we can be healed because it’s the nature of God. And we got many promises of healing, and we looked in Exodus 23, we looked at Exodus 15, where the Lord said, “I’m the Lord who heals you.” We looked in Deuteronomy 28, where it talks about all these different curses. Here’s another one in Numbers 21, the people were numbering, they numbered Israel, looking at their physical strength, and didn’t make God too happy because it’s not in physical numbers, physical strength that we have our victory. We have our victory, praise God, through His Spirit, and so there were fiery serpents that came and bit the people, and they cried out to Moses, and Moses asked God, what do I do? Numbers 21. He said, “Take a serpent of brass and put it on a pole, and it will come to pass, whoever looks at that will live, they’ll be forgiven and they’ll be healed.” And so, in fact, this is in Numbers 21:9, “Moses made a serpent of brass and put it on a pole.” The sign for medical science is a serpent on a pole. Somebody said, why is it a serpent? Well, because sickness is the curse. I said, we don’t like snakes but it’s the curse. Jesus redeemed us from the curse. On the cross, Jesus became a curse for us so that we don’t have to be cursed. In John 3:14. Do y’all know John 3:16? “For God so loved the world that He gave His own only begotten Son, That whoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” But John 3:14 says, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so also must the Son of man be lifted up.” So Jesus was lifted up on a cross, that serpent on a pole was a type of Christ on the cross and that’s still a sign of medical healing today, thank God, comes right out of the scripture, right out of the Bible. Thank God. Anyway, thank God for these promises of healing. We’ve already been in Galatians 3:14, but let’s look at some of these other promises of healing. Psalm 91:10 says, “No evil shall befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.” Psalm 91:16 says, “With long life will I satisfy Him and show Him my salvation.” Now, if you study that word for salvation there, it means Yeshua, praise God, to be delivered, to be saved, to be forgiven, to be healed, to be whole, to be at peace, to prosper. Glory to God. I love Psalm 103:3, He said, “He forgives all of our sin and heals all of our disease.” He forgives all of our sin. He heals all of our disease. See how that is? He forgives all of our sin. He heals all of our disease. See Isaiah 53:5, “He was wounded for our transgressions, by His stripes we are healed.” 1 Peter 2:24, “Who His own self bear our sin in His body, and by whose wounds you were healed.” Praise God. James 5:14, “If there’s any sick among you, let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over them the prayer of faith, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith shall save the sick; and if he’s committed sins, they will be forgiven.” The prayer of faith will save the sick. And if he’s committed sins, they will be forgiven. The healing of the paralytic they brought to Jesus, you can read about it in Mark 2, Matthew 9. They get to the place, it’s so full of people that they can’t even get in so they’re tearing a hole in the roof and they let their friend down by rope. Four friends bring him to Jesus, and they let him down before Jesus. Jesus looks at him, says, well, “Is it easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven’, or ‘Get up, take up your bed and walk?’ But that you might know the Son of man has power on Earth to forgive sins, I say to you, sick of the palsy, ‘Arise, get up, take up your bed and go to your house.’ And he was made whole the same self hour.” So thank God, forgiveness and healing are tied together in the covenant. Amen, over and over again. Psalm 107:20, “He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.” Proverbs 4:20-22, “My Son, attend to my words, give ear to my sayings, let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they’re life under those who find them, and health, medicine to all of their flesh.” Thank God, the word is like health and medicine to us, right? Now, we already studied Isaiah 53:4-5, “Surely He took our sorrows and bore our griefs, yet we did esteem him inflicted, and smitten of God, and inflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Thank God for these promises of healing. I love this one in Jeremiah 30:17, He says, “I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.” Thank God we have promise after promise after promise in the Word of God for healing. And you say, Pastor, many of these are Old Covenant promises. Yes they are, but there’s New Covenant ones. We quoted 1 Peter 2:24, we quoted James 5:14, and you look at the life of Jesus. But you know, 2 Corinthians 1:20 says this, “All the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen.” You see the Old Covenant is not void, praise God, that Jesus secured the promises of the covenant, all the promises of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20, “In Him are yes. In Christ they’re yes.” If you’re in Christ, if you’re a believer, you have a covenant right to be healed, and it’s time for us to rise up and start believing God for healing, start believing God for health. When this pandemic came, my wife, Barbara, boy, she is powerful, and she’s gonna be teaching with me in the next couple weeks and sharing on “Present To Heal.” She has a series. But she said, listen, I’m not getting this virus and my body has every antibody it needs in it, it has every T cell it needs in it, praise God, and she just said that constantly. And we had something, and I was around a few people that had the virus, and I really didn’t know what happened. I got real tired and then all of a sudden I had a little fever. Now I thought, I might have that bug, so I stayed away from people for a period of time. But just every day, I mean, I hardly had any problem at all. I mean, it was almost nothing. But in the evenings, I’d strike a little fever and then it’d go away, just for a few days, and then it was gone. But my wife, Barbara, she never had one symptom in her body. Now, a few months later, I went to my doctor for my annual checkup, and he says, I’m gonna test your blood and I’m gonna see if you got antibodies. He tested my blood and he said, sure enough, Pastor Lawson, you got the antibodies in your blood, you sure enough. You’re right, you’re healed, don’t worry about it, hallelujah, praise God, so I haven’t worried about it, I haven’t had anymore problem. Hallelujah. Now my wife’s dad, he’s 86 years old, he’d never missed a day of work in his life, and this was later in the deal and we’d had the pandemic going a long time, but he kept going to work every day for two weeks or something after he got that crazy virus, and he got real weak and sick and he missed a lot of work ’cause he got so sick, he nearly died. And anyway, they had to call the ambulance and take him to the hospital, and his wife also got very sick and she had to go to the hospital. And they’re older, and so they called us from Denver when he was in the. I was calling him every day, and all of a sudden I couldn’t get ahold of him. We had a big conference going on here at the church. So finally we got a call and it was a social worker in Denver. My father-in-law had forgot his phone, left it home when the ambulance took him to the hospital and so he was there. Anyway, we shared with the doctor and praised God, my dad got better in two or three days, but they needed a place for him to go because the place he was at had a lot of stairs and he was weak getting outta the hospital and his wife was still in the hospital, and so they said, can you keep him? But they wanted Barbara, because she hadn’t had an antibody test or anything, she hadn’t had any symptoms of the virus, to be tested. So she went and got her test and they said, oh yeah, you’ve got every anti. My doctor said she would have the antibodies and my dad’s doctor said, Barbara’s dad’s doctor said she would have that, and sure enough, she had the antibodies. But her confession was this, my blood has every antibody it needs, my blood has every T cell it needs, and I’m not getting this virus. And she never had one symptom, she never had a sniffle, she never had. I’m telling you, that woman is strong in healing, praise God, and she’s strong in the message of healing, praise God, strong in ministering healing, and she’ll be ministering with me, praise God. And we want you to get ahold of these teachings because you know what? We know that if you’re gonna get healed, you need to get ahold of the Word of God on the subject. So Barbara’s series on this is “Present To Heal”, I’ve got two series on it, “Covenant of Healing” and then “The Cross is the Cure”, and we’ve just expanded this series recently. And we talk about not only the cross is the cure but applying the cure, and so we’ve got a special package on all three of these series and you get either any one, two, or three of them, but I got a special package on all three, CD series. You know the Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” And I thank God, at a young age I got filled with the Holy Spirit when I was 14 years old, and I began to hear a strong message of healing, and, praise God, I grew up in a church. We didn’t know, maybe God will, maybe God won’t? You don’t ever know about God, but I heard the Word of God. Andrew Wommack taught me the Word of God. He is one of my mentors, he’s been a great friend to me in the gospel, but I got strong in this message and, praise God, I am living strong, and I am healthy, and I am blessed, and you know what? The Word of God is working in me. The Word of God will build your faith, and the Word of God will help you. So if you’d like to have these teachings, if you’d like to have prayer, we’d love to have you give us a call today, we’ll minister to you. Thank you so much. God bless you.
