More Than Enough Part 3 Transcription
Welcome, friends, to the broadcast today. I’m so glad that you’re connected with us. Today we’re gonna be talking about Jesus’ first miracle. Jesus’ first miracle was a miracle of more than enough, praise God. It was at the wedding, at the feast, wedding feast in Cana of Galilee. And just like Jesus provided more than enough then, Jesus provides more than enough now. It’s great to have you with us today. We are sharing on more than enough. Our God is more than enough. And when you begin to get a revelation of that, you can begin to see that reflected in your life. Just like it happened for Abraham in Genesis 17, it can happen for you.
Amen, so Abraham, yeah, Genesis 17, he got this revelation, God spoke to him, said, “I am El Shaddai. I am the Almighty God. I am more than enough.” And man, that changed Abraham’s life forever. About a year later, he had the promised son, Isaac, and man, that revelation really changed Abraham’s life and brought that promise into manifestation, into fruition. He had Isaac.
And you know, the difference between information and revelation is just what Aaron’s talking about. It’s manifestation. When you get revelation, you’ll take the information that you’ve used. Information becomes revelation by the Holy Spirit and it becomes a manifestation of the promise of God. Amen, that’s awesome.
Yeah, and later on, Abraham was told by God to actually offer up Isaac as an offering and we can see this in Genesis 22:8. And really this is kind of the final test to really, for Abraham, you know, do you really believe that God is more than enough? And the Bible said that Abraham actually believed, this is in Hebrews, that God would raise him up. God’s promise was so real to him that this blessing, this promise is gonna happen no matter what.
He believed that God was able to raise him from the dead and received him, the scripture says, in a figure, in a type, and this actually offering that Abraham makes when he puts Isaac, he told Abraham, go to this, “Abraham, go to this mountain that I show you, Moriah,” and it was three days journey. “And when you get there, I’ll show it to you and offer up your son Isaac.” So he goes and offers up, you know, to offer up his son and Isaac actually asked him, he’s like, “Well, we got the fire, we got the wood, but where’s the sacrifice?” And he says, “God will provide a sacrifice.”
I’d like to read some of this actually ’cause there’s some really cool things that I’ve never really heard explained here that God’s kind of shown me. So this is Genesis 22, and we’ll start in verse eight. So they’re on the way to these mountains in Moriah, which is present-day Jerusalem. Says, “Abraham said, my God, my son, God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” ‘Cause Isaac was saying, you know, “I see the fire, you’re gonna build this altar, but where’s the offering?” And he said, “God will provide for himself.” I actually really love that, that God provides for himself an offering. when I give, it’s not like it’s my money that I’m peeling away. It’s what God game me.
Blessed you with.
So God is provided for himself an offering. That’s my mentality when I’m giving, it’s just giving back to God. David actually prayed that when he took up this multi-billion dollar offering for the temple.
He gave an offering something like $4 billion and then his mighty men, these guys that he started out, they were discontent, they were discouraged, and they were in debt. This was the 400 men that started with David, but they became his mighty men and so David was given this offering for the temple that Solomon would build at the end of his life and David personally gave an offering in equivalent of today’s money of about $4 billion.
And when he prays over the offering, he just said, “From what you have given us-“
From your own-
“Let me give to you.”
Of your own have we given you. In other words, it’s all God’s. A man that I know just got tremendously blessed. He’s been very generous in years past and so, I mean, it’s an amazing multimillion dollar gift tax free that has been given to him and so he was asking me, “Well, what should I give?” And I said, well, “I would tithe, it’s all God’s. I would tithe off the top.” But you know, I said, “That’s between you and God. I’m not forcing you, you just do what you wanna do.” But you know what, if people really knew the blessing that was attached to giving, they wouldn’t be struggling with it.
That’s awesome. So Abraham just said that in Genesis 22:8, “My son, God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” He’s actually prophesying here that God’s gonna provide. He’s prophesying this revelation that he’s gonna soon have that God is a provider. “So the two of them went together,” verse nine. “Then they came to the place in which God had told them and Abraham built an altered their and placed the wood in order and he bound Isaac, his son, laid him on the altar upon the wood.” Heard some funny jokes about Abraham and Isaac. Isaac probably didn’t wanna go hunting with his dad after this incident. Verse 10, “And Abraham stretched out his his hand and took the knife to slay his son, but the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, ‘Abraham, Abraham.’ So he said, ‘Here I am.’ And he said, ‘Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him for now I know that you fear God since you have not withheld your son, your only son from me.’ Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns so Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. Then Abraham called the name of the place the Lord will provide, Jehovah-Jireh, Yahweh Yireh, the Lord will provide, as it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord, it shall be provided.” So there’s a whole lot here, but I wanna look at that very last phrase. It says, “As it is said to this day, in the mount of the Lord, it shall be provided.” So whoever wrote this in Genesis 22 was saying, “This is a saying that we say to this day.”
Amen.
So what day was that when this was written? When was Genesis 22 penned out to this day?
It was written about, Moses penned it.
1600.
Right, so Moses penned that about somewhere between 1600 and 1500 BC.
And Abraham was-
So Abraham lived 2000 BC, so this was some-
400, 500 years later, this saying was still going on. What was that saying that the children of Abraham that is blessed.
The Lord will provide.
They were saying, “In the mount of the Lord, it shall be provided.” And there’s something special about that mount in particular in Moriah. So Moriah’s present-day Jerusalem, there is a saying that in this mountain here in Moriah, the Lord shall provide. Moses didn’t get to step foot on that mountain. That was his number one goal in life was to cross the Jordan, go into the promised land and to probably step foot on this mountain. He didn’t get across and step foot on that mount, but he had a revelation. Moses had revelation and that’s why he wrote this that in this mount, the Lord shall provide. And it actually wasn’t until David where the Israelites took occupation of that mountain. David, King David is the one who conquered Jerusalem. It was controlled by the Jebusites for hundreds of years, even after Joshua brought the Israelites into Canaan. So for hundreds of years, the Jebusites controlled Moriah.
So this is Abraham. It’s 2000 BC. Moses is writing this 15 to 1600 BC, so four or 500 years later.
And then David’s finally.
David is about 1000 BC, so it’s 1,000 years from Abraham to David.
I believe that David really wanted that mount.
Hallelujah.
Where he knew that in that mount, the Lord shall provide, and he conquered the Jebusites and built his capital city there and he really wanted to build a temple on that mount where Abraham got that revelation that God is a provider. He is Jehovah-Jireh, he is Yahweh Yireh.
And you know, the nation of Israel over the years have been tremendously blessed. There have been wars fought over the prosperity that they have because people are jealous because of the blessing on the covenant people of God. And the fact is today when you come into Christ, you are the seed of Abraham. That’s what Galatians 3 says. So we’re the covenant people of God. So the Israelites have this mentality, we are the covenant people of God and we’re blessed by the Most High God.
In the mount to the Lord, it shall be provided. God is a provider and he is a more than enough kind of provider.
And we need to get this revelation in our own life that we’re the covenant people of God and we’re blessed by the Most High God and Jesus is the one who is that ultimate provision. This was a type of Jesus, this is a type of Christ.
And Jesus said this in a John 8 that Abraham saw my day and he saw and he rejoiced in it and was glad.
Amen.
So I believe he saw that ram caught in that thicket, he saw a picture of redemption. He saw a picture of the cross. He saw a picture of-
Hallelujah.
God’s ultimate provision in Jesus. So because Jesus is Lord, Jesus is Lord, if Jesus is Lord, he has to be the Lord, our Provider.
Amen.
And he provided on that mount. When he died on that cross, he died on those mountains of Moriah, those mountains, he died on Mount Calvary.
Just about a quarter mile north of Moriah is Calvary.
So this was actually a prophecy of Jesus, I believe.
Absolutely.
In the mount of the Lord, it shall be provided.
This is the first redemptive name of God, Jehovah-Jireh, in the Old Testament, and the first of seven redemptive names of God. And when you see this, this Jehovah-Jireh, in the mount of the Lord it shall be seen, it’s not only talking about physical and financial provision, it includes physical and financial provision, but it’s talking about all provision, forgiveness for our sin, peace for our mind, healing for our body, amen, and prosperity for our poverty.
He is the ultimate provider and, man, to me, that is a prophecy, in the mount of the Lord it shall be. That is what Jesus was talking about when he said, “He saw my day, rejoiced in it, and was glad.” He said, “In the mount of the Lord.”
The Lord is my provider. You know, Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all of your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” And that’s saying that God did this work in Christ and he made this promise a reality in Christ. And so all these promises of the Old Testament are yes and amen to the glory of God by us. Says that in 2 Corinthians 1:20, they’re all in Christ. God made these promises to us in Christ.
And the greatest confession of the believer is that Jesus is Lord, that he is my Lord, and if Jesus is Lord, he is the Lord who provides. If Jesus is Yahweh, if he is Jehovah, he is Jehovah-Jireh. He is the Lord who provides. So if Jesus is Lord, he had to prove himself as a provider.
Amen.
And not just a lacking provider, but a more than enough kind of provider.
Amen.
And Jesus proved that from day one, the very first miracle of Jesus was actually a miracle of provision. It’s actually really neat to study out miracles of provision in the Bible, when there is a miracle of provision, when God shows himself as a provider, when Jesus shows himself as a provider, it is always more than enough.
Amen, there is no lack in him. And you wanna talk about this first miracle in John 2 when Jesus was called to the wedding at Cana of Galilee, this is when he performed his first miracle and manifested his glory. It says in verse 11, “And his disciples believed on him,” and his first miracle was a miracle of provision.
And God spoke to me about this particular miracle of provision is that when God provides, it’s not poor quality, it’s always top-notch quality. Quality is no problem for God. Sometimes people think that God is kind of a cheapskate. Well, if God’s gonna do something, it’s gonna be of poorer quality than what the world would do. But God is a God of top-notch quality. His provision is always top-notch quality.
Amen.
I was talking to one of our staff members last night. He’s over all of our audio-visual department here. He’s the director of the audio-visual department and has a very big week here at the church right now, but he was telling me that he does some work on his days off for other production companies and things and he said that people are kind of surprised that he works for a church. But he has this understanding that this is a Kingdom assignment and that there’s blessing on it and that there is, and he’s tremendously blessed. God’s blessed him with a great house. I’ve been here since he’s been blessed with a great wife and children and just tremendously blessed, but, man, it’s awesome.
And you know, he’s got this blessed mentality and he came here to work for us and you know what? God increased him from his last job. We gave him more than he was getting before, which he was doing fine. He’s one of our higher paid employees. But at the same point in time, he is not limited by that and he made about another 2/3 of what he makes for us last year doing other things for other people and he does not short the church.
No.
He doesn’t work by the hour, he’s on salary, but he gives us much more than 40 hours a week.
Yeah, and man, when God provides, it is always top-notch quality and the church, we should be top-notch quality kind of people.
Amen.
And do things with great quality. So let’s look at this miracle of provision. John 2, we’ll read this here. Starting in verse one, it says, “On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding and when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.'” So this is kind of a problem. “So Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what does your concern have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Whatever he says to you, do it.’ Now there were set there six water pots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing 20 or 30 gallons a piece.” So 20 or 30 gallons a piece, these are big pots.
Like a bathtub.
Yeah, and that’s what they would do, they would take a bath in it to purify themselves according to the Old Testament law. In order to come before God, they’d have to purify themselves and Jesus said, “‘Hey, fill those water pots with water.’ They filled them up to the brim and he said to them, ‘Draw some out now and take it to the master of the feast.'” So as they were doing this, they were probably like wondering, this is kind of gross, like this is bath water from these baths.
Most of the time you don’t drink from the bathtub.
No, and especially kind of in this time of day, hygiene probably wasn’t the greatest. I don’t think they Cloroxed those.
They probably didn’t have Clorox.
Those pots before they did this, but it said, “They took it, when the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine did not know where it came from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew, the master of the feast called the bridegroom and he said to him, ‘Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, the inferior, but you have kept the good wine until now.'” And that’s actually very profound because in the world, the way things work in the world, if you’ve been in the world, if you’ve partied in the world, like parties always get worse and worse. The later you stay at a party, the later you stay at a place you shouldn’t be, the worst it’s gonna get. You know, there’s a saying, “nothing good happens after midnight.” When I went to college, I would always make sure I was home before midnight because ’cause things get worse and worse if you’re out there in the world. But with Jesus, everything gets better and better.
Hallelujah.
So always invite Jesus to your party. Always invite him to your wedding. Invite him to your relationships. Invite him into your business.
Amen.
Invite him into your life and things will get better and better.
Amen, you know, it says this in verse one. It says, “The mother of Jesus was there.” You can’t do anything about where you’re not involved, but you need to be there. You need to be connected where God wants you to be connected, praise God. And you know, when we get connected where God wants us to get connected, great things can happen.
Amen.
We’re gonna take a very short break and we’ll be back after this and you wanna stay tuned. There’s some great revelation that we’ll share in the last half of this broadcast, so stay tuned. Blessings. Friends, we are sharing this week on More Than Enough and we have a special offer and I believe that these teachings will bless you and help you come to a new level of financial increase in your life. I have first of all, my book, “Provision: Releasing Supernatural Increase in Your Life.” Andrew Wommack wrote me a forward. Dr. Doug Weiss also. Jesse Duplantis, who has a great anointing of increase, wrote a word about this book, so I would like you to get this book. I believe it’s very practical and I believe this practical information will help you come to a new level of financial increase in your life. Also, we’ve included my teaching, “Four Pillars of Financial Success,” and if you get this working in your life, I guarantee it will bring increase to you. I’m offering both of these to any person who becomes a new partner with Charis Christian Center this week, blessings. Friends, I’m so glad that you stayed with us. We’ve been talking about the wedding at Cana of Galilee where Jesus’ first miracle was performed and it was a miracle of provision.
Of more than enough.
It was a miracle of increase.
A miracle more than enough. And like we’re talking about how when God provides for us, it’s no problem for him to provide top-notch quality. And you know, when Jesus turned this water into wine, it wasn’t two-buck Chuck, is what they say.
It was the very best.
It was the very best.
Of the feast said, “Where did you get this wine? Most people get everybody drunk and then they give them the good stuff and you saved the good stuff ’till the end.” And it’s something like, there were six of these, you know, like water pots, they held 20 to 30 gallons, so 25 gallon a piece would be 150 gallon. There was more than enough. This is also a type of Jesus coming for his church when we’re gonna have this great wedding feast in heaven.
And at that wedding feast, there’s gonna be more than enough and he makes you more than enough too. You know, those pots, they were symbols of the Old Testament law. Like you weren’t good enough to come before God. You have to try to wash away all of your-
Impurity.
Impurities, mistakes.
Cleanliness.
Unclean, you have to, like if you read the law concerning it, like there’s a lot of ritual washing.
If you do this, then you go do this. And it somewhat, it eased people’s conscience. It was a provision from God to ease their conscience, but it never purged them.
It was never enough and what Jesus did was showing that I’m doing something new here. There’s some new wine.
There’s a new covenant.
There is a new covenant that I’m ushering in and that’s what that miracle really represents when he takes these old covenant pots and puts his new wine in them. And I love, you know, like the Bible says that you can’t put new wine into old wineskins. So he’s saying like Jesus and what he wants to give us, the power of His Holy Spirit, the indwelling of his Holy Spirit, it’s not gonna fit into the Old Testament wineskins.
Okay, let’s talk about this in the area we’re talking about, finances. So many people have a religious mindset about finances and it’s limiting God in their life. They, by their mindset, by this old wineskin, are limiting God and his blessing and abundance and they could not even receive.
Well, ’cause it had burst their wineskin.
And they would lose it all. So until you change your mentality, you’re not even gonna be able to receive the blessing that God wants to bring your way.
That’s true and I love that he puts the new wine in these pots. He puts this new wine. He doesn’t put into old wineskins that are gonna break. He put that new wine into something that was indestructible.
Yes.
And Jesus, when he was going to the cross, he said, “I’m pouring my wine, my blood out for you. This wine is, it’s a symbol of my blood. It’s a symbol of the New Testament.”
You won’t drink this cup until I drink it new with you in my Kingdom. Jesus took a cup of death and we take a cup of life. We take a sweet cup.
With the things that Jesus gives us now, he wants to put them in something that’s indestructible. That’s why when you receive Jesus, when you believe on Jesus, you’re given his Spirit, his resurrected, everlasting eternal Spirit. If you believe on Jesus, make him your personal Lord and Savior, you have an indestructible spirit. That way you can receive the things of God. You couldn’t receive everything that, you couldn’t receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with an old, fleshly wineskin.
Right.
You have to receive it in something that’s indestructible. So everything that we receive from Jesus, we receive it in our spirit first. That’s where it’s given to us. That’s where it’s poured out in us because it has to be indestructible.
Yes.
Amen.
So we got a brand new spirit born of God, amen. And when we begin to believe the Word of God, we can have more than enough flow to us. Amen, and it’s not a problem with God. There’s a number of things that I’ve written down here in this parable, but Jesus says, “It’s not my time.” And his mother says, “Do whatever he says, do it.” And you know, faith is forward thinking. Jesus had never worked a miracle yet, but his mother knew, “Hey, this is the day, praise God.” And faith is manifested in action. They had to go fill those water pots. 150 gallon’s a lot of water. And then faith obeys God. After he told ’em, fill ’em, they they had to draw it out and bear it. And as I believe they drew it out, the water turned into wine.
When you study miracles of provision, they always take place in what’s in your hand. What do you have in your house? Even even Abram, when lot was taken captive in Genesis 14 and he goes and gets Lot back, it said that he, you know, all these other kings in his area couldn’t fight off these enemy people, but Abram did. He assembled an army from his own house. It said he took 318 trained servants that were born in his own house.
Amen. So there’s a miracle in your house.
There is a miracle in your house. God wants to raise up things within your house.
Amen, praise God. We need to think about that as the church. The church is the house of God and there’s a miracle. We’ve got miracles amongst us, hallelujah. We need to get connected where God wants us to get connected so we can be doing what God wants us to do.
And I believe that God wants to raise up and train up sons and daughters within the house.
Amen.
Within the local church.
You know, we’ve got a great youth ministry here at Charis Christian Center and one of the biggest things that we’ve done recently, our youth pastor has raised up these interns and this summer coming up, he’s gonna be having three different groups, different ages of interns and I believe it’s changing these kids’ lives and they’ll in turn go and change other people’s lives. And so, praise God, there’s miracles in this house.
I think one thing that the church sometimes tries to do is try to hire mercenaries to do the Kingdom work. Like we need to hire out people that know what they’re doing out from the world. We need to hire out people who know how to market things or we need to hire out, you know, if we could just get this famous musician to come and do a concert at our church, but what about raising people up from within the church?
Yeah, developing the gifting, the calling, the anointing. See, this happened in 2 Kings. There was a widow and her husband had died and he was of the prophets and she had two poor sons and so she went to the prophet and the prophet said, “What do you have in your house?” “I have nothing but a pot of oil.” That oil represents the anointing. There’s an anointing on your life, but that anointing needs to be used, that anointing needs to be developed so that it can be multiplied and touch many people.
Amen, that’s awesome. I believe that there is a miracle in your house. I believe that God has placed things in your life, in your heart that are there for you specifically to set your hand to, to trust God with, to enact your faith with and I believe that as you step out in faith, set your hand to that, God is gonna bless it tremendously.
Amen, and I believe it’s gonna increase. If you need prayer today, if you wanna become a partner today, make sure you give us a call. We’d love to hear from you, blessings.
