So stay tuned, I believe you’ll be blessed. Friends, I’m so glad that you’re with us today, and I’ve got my good friend, Mark Hankins. We’ve been friends for 40 plus years.
Wow.
It’s hard to believe.
And so God is so good. And Mark actually serves here at Charis Christian Center on our board of,
Yeah.
Actually, our legal board.
Yeah.
And you’re a tremendous blessing. My son, Aaron, and his wife, Heather, wanted to add you to the board.
Yeah.
God just made it so it can happen.
Well, we’re blessed to have wonderful friends, supernatural friends.
Praise God.
Amen.
And we’re gonna be talking all of this week about the spirit of generosity.
Yeah.
And I thank God Mark’s got a real anointing in the realm of finances and generosity. And I think it’s gonna be great.
Yeah.
It should really encourage you. I have a testimony, a couple of testimonies.
I bet.
From your ministry, really.
You know, I’ve never met a lifetime tither that wished they didn’t do it, you know. I wish I shouldn’t have done that, no.
Amen.
When you’re a tither, the blessing of the Lord, and I’m sure.
Yeah.
Great testimonies.
So years ago, we went through a challenge in our business, core size in the cattle business, and we had a huge blizzard and lost about a quarter million dollars.
Wow.
And you came to town and you actually had to land your jet in Colorado Springs.
Yeah.
And stood over in the mountains. And so you called me and asked me if I could drive you to Buena Vista.
I remember, I remember.
So we were driving to Buena Vista a couple hours west of here in the mountains to Trina’s dad and mom’s place. And so as we were driving, I was talking ’cause you know, I had a huge loss and it kind of got in my mind.
Sure.
But at the same point in time, I was talking about the blessings of the Lord and different things that God had done. And I remember you just saying over and over as I would tell about the different things that God had done. “That’s a tithers blessing.”
Yeah.
That’s a tithers blessing.
Yeah.
That’s a tithers blessing.
Yeah.
And you know, that just got on the inside of me. And then Trina, you know, began to minister to me. Really, this scripture from Proverbs 21:20, “There’s treasure to be desired and oil in the house of the wise.” And it just ministered, it was like healing.
Wow.
You know, healing to my soul.
Sure.
And it just really helped me heal. And did you know what? I know if we get robbed from, I know who the thief is.
Sure.
I never blame God. You know, I know the devil is the thief.
Yeah.
And the Bible says, “If he gets caught, he has to repay seven times.”
Yes, yeah.
So did you know I got that quarter million back seven times over.
The blessing.
Took me a few years.
Yeah.
But praise God. You know, sometimes we just need that healing anointing and let the Lord, but I just want you just to share from your spirit kind of, what do you wanna share?
Well, you know, my dad was a pastor.
Right.
My dad’s in heaven right now, my dad and my mom. And then, of course, my grandpa was a pastor, Springfield pastor. Of course, my dad as a pastor, of course, I went to church, you know, all the time. And my dad taught on tithing. And he taught us, even as we were children on tithing, no matter if it’s $3, $5, what it was, he taught us to give God the first. We know Proverbs 3:9 and 10 says, “Honor the Lord with your substance and the first fruits of all your increase. So shall your barns be filled with plenty.”
Amen.
“And your presses shall burst out with new blessing or new wine.”
Amen.
And so, my dad always taught us on tithing. My dad would say things like this, he would say, you know, the tithe, of course, means a 10th.
Right.
The first 10th belonged to the Lord. And then in Malachi, He teaches us, “Bring the tithe, then the offering”, He says. “Your tithe and your offering.” And then He says, “Your barns will be filled with plenty. And your presses will be bursting out with blessing.
Right. And the increase of God.”
Then my daddy would say things like, “You can tithe on what you make or tithe on what you wanna make.”
Yeah.
So, you know, I’m just a kid growing up in this. And so he would teach on the blessing of the Lord.
Right.
And honoring God with the first 10th.
Right.
We know this is not really just an Old Testament concept.
Amen.
You know, we know it’s not under the law. We know it’s not Moses. We know that Abraham was the first tither.
Yeah.
We know in Hebrews 7.
Right.
It talks about the tithe and it says here, like, “Men receive it.”
Amen.
“But there, He receives it”, Jesus.
Yeah, yeah.
And it says, “And it witnesses that He is alive.” So the tithe includes more than just a financial blessing. It is actually a testimony and a witness that Jesus is Lord.
Amen.
He is alive.
Amen.
And so He says, “Here, men receive it. There, He receives it.” And that’s when Abraham was blessed.”
Right.
“By Melchizedek.”
Right.
So my daddy always taught us on tithing. Tithing what you make or tithing what you wanna make. So I was a teenager, I started double tithing.
Amen.
Systematically. So I’d give 10% tithe, give another 10% offering.
Yeah.
Wow, and you know, when you start off maybe just 10, $20 a week, or $50 a week, as you’re growing older, $100 a week. And we just saw the increase of God as you honor God, and as you put God first in the area of your finances. Really, if He’s first in your life, God would be first in your finances.
Amen.
I think I heard Billy Graham say one time, he said, “Show me your checkbook.”
Yeah.
Or your bank records. “Show me your checkbook and I’ll tell you what you love.”
Amen.
In other words, if you love Jesus, he’s in your giving.
Amen.
Because you and I, in our giving, honoring the Lord, but we’re also supporting the preaching of the gospel, the distribution of the gospel.
Amen.
And helping others to hear. And that blessing, wow. I mean, we have so many blessing.
Amen.
That come from honoring God.
Yes.
And so, whatever level you are as a Christian, either first year, second year, you know, 10th year, 50th year, you just keep putting the Lord first.
Yeah.
In the area.
And so you just do your 10% and then you say, “I’d like to add an offering, or I’d like to sow a seed.”
Right.
Which the Apostle Paul talks about.
Right.
So that blessing, God said, “I will open the windows of heaven, pour out a blessing. You don’t have room enough to receive it.”
Amen.
So I am blessed that my mom and dad taught us.
Right.
Amen. Not only just to love Jesus, not only just to go to church, but to be a tither and to be a giver.
Yeah. And you know, my dad taught me, I remember when I was like four years old, going to Sunday school. And my parents didn’t have a lot, but my dad gave me two nickels to put in the offering.
Two nickels. Gotta start somewhere.
So I went, right? And I put one nickel in the offering and then I kept a nickel back. And there was a store, you know, on the way out. We lived 10 miles out of town. There’s a store on the way out of town. I said, “Hey, can we stop?” It’s called Mickey’s Grocery. And I said, “Can we stop at this little store and get some bubble gum?” And my dad said, “No, we don’t have money for bubble gum.” And so, you know, then there’s a store eight miles. We live 10 miles out of town. Eight miles out of town, there’s another store called the May Valley store.
Yeah.
North of Lamar, Colorado.
Wow.
When we were getting close to the May Valley store, a mile and a half, two miles out, I said, “Hey, can we stop at the store and get some bubble gum?” And my daddy said, he said, “I don’t have money for no bubble gum.” And he said, “Son.” I said, “Well, I got a nickel.” He said, “Son, did you keep one of them nickels back?”
Did you get one of the nickels?”
I said, “Yes, daddy, I did.” And my dad gave me my first lesson when I was, like, four years old on tithing. And you know, we didn’t get a lot of things right. We might have smoked and drank beer and cuss, but we went to church and paid our time.
Wow, yeah.
But my daddy said, “We tithe, we give a 10th.” And you know, I’ve been a tither since I got my first paycheck.
Wow.
I got my first paycheck when I was 13 years old for driving tractor and I was making, you know, two or $3 an hour. I made $1,300 for driving, about 1,300 and a little bit. And I remember I tithed the little extra, praise God. But I remember bringing that $135 check.
Yeah.
To Sunday school. And my Sunday school class when I was 13, that’s a big deal that somebody brought a check like that.
Yeah.
But that was the first time that I got paid. And I’ve tithed every time and I’ve always been blessed.
Interesting. You could set this way. You don’t have to be a tither to receive Jesus, but you do need to be a tither to follow Jesus. In other words, you don’t have to be a giver, give anything to receive Jesus. He paid the price for your salvation.
Right.
But if you wanna be a disciple, if you wanna follow Jesus, you need to learn to honor Him with the first part of all of your income, all your increases.
Yes.
And Luke 16, very interesting chapter.
Right.
Jesus talks about that you and I, if we’re gonna follow Him, He said, “You have to be faithful in three areas.”
Right.
“Number one, be faithful when it comes to mammon or to money or to material things. Be faithful in little things. And be faithful in that, which is another man’s.”
Right.
In other words, He said, “If you’ll be faithful in these three areas”, He said, “Then you are serving God and not serving mammon or money.”
Right.
So if you’re gonna serve the Lord and follow the Lord, you need to learn to be faithful, dependable, reliable, consistent. Number one, in putting God first in the area of your finances.
Right.
Because that blessing is more than just a financial blessing.
Amen.
It includes a financial blessing.
Amen.
But tithing, actually, and giving opens up supernatural blessing also.
Amen, that’s what, you know, you’ve been talking about Proverbs 11:24 and 25 and Malachi 3:10-12, it talks about the tither’s blessing. And really, to me, there’s four main areas of giving. There’s tithing, which is giving the 10th.
Yeah.
There’s offerings that’s above a 10th.
Yeah.
There’s alms that’s given to the poor.
And then there’s seed sowing.
Yeah.
And the Bible actually talks about seed time and harvest in Genesis 8:22. And it says, “As long as the earth remains, these principles remain.”
Wow, sure.
So we have these principles and you know, my dad taught me to be a tither. I really didn’t understand the blessing of the Lord. I didn’t understand promises concerning provision and blessing. But when I begin, you know, to get ahold of the Word, you know, that’s one of the first things that came to me when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit in Andrew Womack’s meeting, is that, you know what? There’s a Bible full of promises. You can believe them. You don’t have to be sick, poor, and defeated by the devil.
Yeah.
But you could believe God. And I started believing God and it really changed my life.
Wow.
So, praise God.
Well, actually, someone, you know, that they’re counting. That there’s 500 scriptures on faith, 500 on prayer, but there’s like 2,000 scriptures.
Yeah.
In the Bible, on money and how you manage money or how you relate to money. So Proverbs 11:24 says, “There is that scatters and yet increases.”
Yeah.
“There is that withholds more than is appropriate and it tends to poverty or to lack.” In other words, God’s way of thinking is if you hold on too tight to your money, you’ll have less money. If you’re generous, there is a scatter and He will increase. He said, “If you’re a giver, you actually will increase.” And if you’re too tight, or some people say, “Well I’m just frugal.” Well, frugal is good at Walmart, but it’s not good at church. In other words, you’re just stingy, really. But to be faithful instead of just being frugal is you put God first and be generous and you’re giving.
Amen. Praise the Lord. Well, we wanna say thanks so much for watching. Give us a call if you need prayer right now. Thanks so much, and blessings. Friends, I am so glad that you are watching today. We’ve been talking about the spirit of generosity. I have my good friend, Mark Hankins, with me, who has a tremendous revelation in the area of finances. And for any new partner that gives any partnership of any amount in the United States of America, we’ll send this book to you, “God’s Extravagant Generosity”, free of charge. You know, my grandmother told me when I was just a little bitty child, she told me, “Birds of a feather, flock together.” And then a preacher told me a few years later, “Flocks fly the same place.” You know, there’s some flocks you fly with, you’re not gonna get what you want. And so you wanna hang around the right people. It’s very important, the relationships that you have. Friends, I’m so glad that you stayed with us and I’m, again, so pleased to have Mark and Trina. And Mark, you’ve really been a blessing to me. And I talked about that one testimony, which really, it just really ministered to me. And now, you know, you’re with us at the church and you know, come and minister here about once a year. But it’s just a tremendous blessing. And I love how you think. And this is one thing, you know, we recently went on Day Star and it’s a huge deal.
Yeah.
But I was talking to you about it because God had laid this on my heart for about a year, and this has added about 100,000 a month to my expenses on my budget.
Sure.
Which is a lot for where our income was at the ministry in the church. But you know.
Sure.
When I mentioned it to you, you just made a statement to me that really helped me. And you said, “You just need to believe God for a hundred more thousand dollars a month. And then it’s no problem.” And you know what? Since we’ve done that, our calls coming into the ministry have went from, like, 20 calls a day to over 100 calls a day.
Wow, wow.
And we’re getting a lot of people filled with the Holy Spirit and a lot of people healed and set free by the power of God, some people saved. So we thank God.
Yeah.
You know, but you’ve gotta go places in your mind and in your faith.
Yeah.
Before you’re going to go there naturally.
Wow.
And if you don’t go there in your faith, you’re not gonna be able to stay there.
Well, you know, we learned so much about faith from whom we call Dad Hagin or Kenneth E. Hagin. And he said that the Lord gave him that assignment, is go teach my people faith. So he came to my dad’s church, you know, when I was just eight years old. And would preach for two weeks teaching. Then he taught us faith. And then when I was 17, I started paying attention. Well, his main scripture would be Mark 11:22, 23, 24, where Jesus said, “Have faith in God.” And then He said, “Whosoever shall say unto this mountain, ‘Be removed and cast into the sea’, shall not doubt or believe those things that he sayeth will come to pass. He shall have whatsoever he sayeth.” And then verse 24, “What things soever you desire when you pray, believe you receive them and you shall have them.
Amen.
That’s two of the most powerful scriptures on prayer and really on the authority of the believer.
Right.
So Dad Hagin taught us that faith works the same in every area of life.
Right.
In other words, find scriptures that promise you the thing that you’re believing for. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. So first of all, when you’re a tither or you’re a giver, first of all, you have a promise.
Right.
You have the word that you’re acting on, and then you have a purpose in your giving. And that Dad Hagin taught us, I mean, ’cause we were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, but we just didn’t have no money.
Right.
But Dad Hagin taught us, first of all, that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. And we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.
Amen.
Our God didn’t put the good things or the blessing or the wealth and the earth for the devil and his kids. He actually put it in there for his family.
Right.
So He said, “But if you’re gonna have faith for finances, then you need to be fully persuaded that God wants you blessed coming in, going out the head, not the tail, above and not beneath.” In other words, He wants you to be blessed so you can be a blessing.
Amen.
So Dad Hagin would teach us you have what you say. So he said, if you’re not happy with what you have in life, check out what you’ve been saying.
Amen.
In other words, your words are either gonna release your faith or open the door to the supernatural for God’s blessing, or your words are gonna open the door for the enemy and to cause actually lack in your life. So Dad Hagin taught us, never talk lack.
Amen.
He said, “Always say the Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. I do not lack for ability, I do not lack for opportunity, and I never lack for money.
Amen.
I never lack for money. I’m a tither, I’m a giver. God multiplies my seeds’ home”, and the money will come.
Amen.
He always just said, “Don’t talk lack. Always say the money will come.”
Amen.
So when you put God first, now release your faith.
Amen.
And I think it’s one writer, maybe F.F. Bosworth said, “It’s impossible to boldly claim by faith a blessing that you’re not sure God is offering.”
Right.
In other words, if you’re gonna be bold in your faith, you need to be fully persuaded that God wants you blessed,
Amen.
That Christ has redeemed you. And that blessing is not just spiritual, it’s in every area of your life.
Amen. Praise God.
Amen. We learned that about from Dad Hagin.
Amen.
On how to release your faith by saying
Amen.
And that affects your finance.
You know, I heard Brother Hagin, Papa Hagin, teaching on television years and years ago. And he was talking about how he traveled as an evangelist.
Yeah.
And he didn’t really have enough money, so on and so forth. And they would go to these churches in a whole week or two-week long revivals, and they would tell the people the budget and then they would always come up short. And so he came to a place, he’d tell the pastor, “Pastor, what’s your budget for the week?” And you know, back then he might’ve said, “Well, it’s $2,500.” Well, I tell you what, we’re not gonna tell the people what it is and we’re gonna make it 3,500.
Yeah.
And we’re going to believe God.
Wow.
And then they would say, “Money comes.” And they would believe and they would pray.
Yeah.
And he would say, in Jesus’ name, money comes. And angels go and the money comes. And I watch this now. I built this church over on Elkton Drive here, the first church we built in Colorado Springs. And I told the people what we were doing, but I’ve never twisted anybody’s arm or pulled on them, so on and so forth. I even hardly ever said anything about a building fund, so on and so forth. But I would say the money comes.
Sure.
And I would say, “In Jesus’ name, the money comes, angels go and the money comes.” In fact, I got a song about it.
Yeah.
And so, I would sing and dance and shout and say, and sometimes once in a while when I was preaching, I would do that. I’m sure I run off a few religious people.
Yeah.
But you know, all the money came.
Sure.
All the money came. And when we were in that building program, I ended up, you know, I started out with a building. You know, I bought this building, it appraised for about 1.2 million, two buildings actually. And some land. And I bought it for 850,000. And then it cost me, you know, it was 2.35 million all in.
Wow.
To build that property. When I got done with the project, I owed about 620,000. And the Lord told me, He said, “Now you just believe me and pay that debt off and save.” So we saved up ’til we had a little over 4 million and then God opened the door supernaturally for us to buy this building.
Wow.
And you know, we bought this building at less than half of the tax valuation. And it’s actually about a quarter of the tax valuation now.
Wow, wow.
That we have invested in this building, supernatural how God gave it to us. But we saved up four or $5 million and God told us what was gonna happen ahead of time.
Wow.
And so we found out about this bank auction, bought this building at a bank auction, paid 5.4 million, plus a $300,000 bank fee, and then had a $2 million build out.
Yeah.
So I’m 7.7 million in the whole project. But the day that we moved in this property, it was paid for.
Wow.
But I did that without telling people a lot, without pleading for money. I told them what we were doing, of course, but I never pressured anybody.
Sure.
But in my private time, I would say the money comes.
Sure.
In Jesus’ name, the money comes. Angels go and the money comes.
Yeah.
And I would thank God for it.
Yeah.
And I would rejoice.
Sure.
And like I said, I’d sing and dance.
Yeah.
Hallelujah. I’d be on the elliptical in the morning.
Yeah.
I sing, the money comes. I say, the money comes.
Yeah. ♪ I sing and dance and shout and say ♪ ♪ The money, money comes ♪ ♪ In Jesus’ name, the money comes ♪ ♪ The angels go and the money comes ♪ ♪ Money, money, money, money comes ♪ ♪ Money comes to me ♪
And you know what? The money comes.
Well, it’s faith.
And we paid it off, supernaturally.
I’ve watched the blessing of the Lord upon you and your wife and your church. And I’m always amazed at the blessing of the Lord. You know, Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord.”
Amen.
“It makes you rich and adds no sorrow with it.
Praise God.
Yeah.
In other words, you can get rich without the blessing of the Lord, but it’s gonna add a lot of sorrow with it.
Pain.
But the blessing of the Lord will make you rich and add no sorrow with it.
Yeah.
In other words, you can be blessed and rich, just means abundantly provided for. And be happy the blessing of the Lord. So it is the blessing of the Lord. It’s more than just your education, more than just your talent. You know, more than just your good looks, of course. It’s the blessing of the Lord . And we’ve seen that blessing upon your life. And actually, the Scripture says that the blessing of Abraham comes on us in Galatians 3:13, 14.
Yes.
“Christ redeemed us from the curse.” Which means, you look over in Deuteronomy 28 and it literally says, “You’re redeemed from the curse.” And then it says, “So that you’re blessed coming in, going out, you’re the head and not the tail. You’re above and not beneath.”
Amen.
The blessing of the Lord on your family, your children, it’s more than just finances.
Amen.
It’s every area of your life, the blessing of the Lord. And that’s the power of the blood of Jesus.
Amen.
“That Christ has redeemed us from the curse.”
Yeah.
Galatians 3:13, with His own blood.
When you look at the curse of the law in Deuteronomy 28:15-64.
Yeah.
The 58 verses there.
Yeah.
And 14 verses, 54 verses of curses, and there’s 14 verses of blessings. And I speak those over my life.
Yeah.
But I like to look at what we’re redeemed from.
Yeah.
In sickness, poverty.
Yeah, Amen.
We’re redeemed from slavery, right? And death. That’s the four curses
Redeemed.
Of the law. Every aspect. Now in today’s time, we’re redeemed from sickness.
Yeah.
From poverty, from slavery to sin and spiritual death.
Amen.
In the last day, when Jesus comes again, we’ll be redeemed from physical death. That’s the last enemy.
Wow.
He puts under His feet.
Amazing.
But Christ has redeemed us from the curse. So that the blessing.
Yeah, the blessing. And so the blessing of the Lord affects every area of your life. It affects every area. And you and I need to, by faith, agree with God.
Yes.
That Christ has redeemed us. No matter how things look or how you feel, or circumstances, you can declare with your own mouth, the blood of Jesus has set me free and purchased my freedom from the curse of the law.
Right.
Which means I am redeemed from the curse of poverty and lack, depression, from shame, from sickness, from disease, from sin’s dominion, and that Jesus is my Lord.
Amen.
That confession of faith lets the devil know that he can no longer dominate you, that Jesus has set you free.
Amen.
It’s very interesting that the power of that blood, it says in 1 Corinthians 10, that when you take communion, you take the cup, which is the blood, and it calls it the cup of blessing.
Amen.
So I like to say, your blood blessed.
Amen.
Because of the blood of Jesus.
Amen.
And that includes every area of your life.
Amen, you know, we need to get a blessed mentality and we find out who God says we are in Christ and what God says about us, and what the scripture says about us. And you know, this isn’t just an Old Testament thing.
Yeah.
Galatians 3, where we’re quoting from, it says that we’re Abraham’s children by faith in Jesus.
Yeah.
And really the reason that we get all this stuff is we are God’s children.
Yeah.
