Goodness Of God

Friends, I am so glad that you tuned in today. We’re sharing a special message from our live service on the goodness of God. Inevitably, when you study through the scriptures from the Book of Genesis clear through the Book of Revelation, you can see the goodness of God. You can see the goodness of God in every aspect of the Bible, Old Testament and New Testament. So open your heart and receive the word of God today. Blessings. So the goodness of God, it’s His witness of Himself revealed in creation, revealed in the promises. Psalm 52:1, the last part of that verse says, “The goodness of God endures continually.” It’s continual, it’s never ending. The goodness of God. How many of you are glad the goodness of God endures continually? God is a good God. We say it, God is good, all the time, right? And then I change it a little bit. I said, “God is good all the time to me.” So you gotta personalize it. You gotta just putting it out there for everyone else and say, “God is good to me all the time.” You gotta personalize it and say this isn’t just for Brother or sister, so and so. This isn’t just for Brother Andrew, Brother Jesse, Pastor Lawson. Amen? It’s good for you. Do you know God is no respecter of persons? He’s only a respecter of faith. If it’ll work for me, it’ll work for you. Praise God. Just decide to believe it and receive it and keep believing it. A lot of people dig up their bean seed, they give up before their harvest. Pastor Barbara, that is a great sermon title. Maybe I’ll teach a series on don’t dig up your bean seed. Praise God. Amen. When they dedicated the temple in 2 Chronicles 5:13, it says they praised the Lord saying, “For He is good, and His mercy endures forever.” How many of you are glad that God is good and His mercy endures forever? His mercy endures forever. Now when I begin to think about this, the goodness of God, first of all, you know what? The goodness of God endures continually. We have an unchangeable God. How many of you are glad that God doesn’t change, that He’s always the same, that He’s eternally the same? Malachi 3:6 says this, “For I am the Lord, I change not.” Now listen to the last four. Therefore, you sons of Jacob are not consumed. It’s because of God’s grace. It’s because of His mercy. It’s because of His character, right? He says because I don’t change. I mean, there’s some times where He might have wanted to change, right? He repented. In other words, He changed his mind. He never sinned. “I am the Lord and I do not change. Therefore, you sons of Jacob are not consumed.” You see, the nature of God is good. The Old Testament, we teach this over and over again, but it’s a progressive revelation of who God is. There’s seven redemptive names of God in the Old Testament. In Genesis 22, he says, “I am Jehovah Jireh. I am the Lord, your provider.” Exodus 15, he says, “I am Jehovah Rapha. I am the Lord who heals you.” Exodus 17, he says, “I’m Jehovah Nissi. I’m the Lord, your defender, your banner. I’m the one who fights for you.” How many of you are glad God fights for you? The battle belongs to the Lord. Some of you need to remind yourself that the battle belongs to the Lord. Exodus 20:8, “I’m Jehovah Mekoddish. I’m the Lord, your sanctifier.” I love what he says to Gideon in Judges 6, Gideon saying, “I’m from a poor family. I ain’t got nothing. Can’t do nothing.” And the Lord says, “Gideon, you go in the anointing that’s on you and you will defeat the enemy.” Go in the anointing that’s on you, right? And then he says, “Well how do I know? Well make a sacrifice and fire comes out of the rock and consumes the sacrifice. And he calls it Jehovah Shalom. The Lord is my peace, and the Lord is my provision. When the Jews greet one another, they say Shalom. When they leave one another, they say Shalom. They’re constantly speaking words of blessing. Aaron had the privilege of working for a Jewish doctor, actually giving him flute lessons in Houston, Texas when he was getting his doctorate at Rice University. And they loved Aaron, so they invited Aaron. They had this party where his Jewish family were coming from all over the world to celebrate his birthday. And he said, “Daddy, you can tell they are very careful about their words.” When Aaron graduated from college, they not only had a Catholic minister priest speak at the graduation, they also had a Jewish, I don’t even know what you should call them, rabbi pray. And this rabbi prayed, and his prayer was so scriptural, it was powerful, right there at Carnegie Mellon University. It was a big Jewish area right there. And it was very, very powerful. But anyway, Aaron said, when I went to this, when they had this 60th birthday party for my Jewish doctor friend, he said, “You could tell they watch their words and they are not speaking curses over people.” One thing we’re to do as a priest of the Lord, they were to bear the word of God and they were to bless the people. And we need to understand that our words have the power to bless. So we ought to be bearing the word, and we ought to be blessing people. I’m constantly speaking words of blessing. I know that death and life are in the power of my tongue. Amen. And so I can speak words of blessing. In life, I can also speak words of cursing and death. So I choose to speak life. I know that’s in my power. I know that I have something to say about the situation. Praise God. So when the Jews greet one another, they say Shalom. When they leave one another, they say Shalom. That word doesn’t only mean peace, it means the Lord is my peace. I can go in this anointing because the Lord is with me, but it also means the Lord is my provision. The Lord is my prosperity. The word for Shalom in the Hebrew many times is used as prosperity. Psalm 35:27 says this, “Let them shout for joy and say continually, ‘Let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.’ Let them shout for joy and be glad that favor my righteous cause.” How many of you favor God’s cause? Let them shout for joy. I favor God’s cause. Hallelujah. We just sent to pay for another church in India, our 25th one today we just sent them. Let them shout for joy and be glad that favor my righteous cause. Yay, let them say continually. Let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. What am I doing? I’m practicing that scripture. Let them shout, you’re shouting many times. Shout some praises. Let them shout for joy and be glad that favor, how many of you favor the righteous God that favor my righteous cause? Yay, let them say, let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the Shalom, in the prosperity, in the spirit, soul, and body, in the physical and financial, emotional and spiritual health, and wellbeing and prosperity of His servants. Praise God wanna shout for joy, let’s shout for joy, and be glad, amen? We favor the cause. He is Jehovah Shalom. He goes on and says this, in Jeremiah 23:6, he says, “The name wherewith he shall be called” speaking about Jesus is the Lord our righteousness. Then he says this in Jeremiah 33:16, “The name wherewith she shall be called.” Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord our righteousness. In other words, through the covenant, the righteousness of Jesus has been assigned to us as his church. And then the last one is in Ezekiel 48:35, and he says the name of the place will be the Lord is there, Jehovah Shammah, the Lord is there. Seven redemptive names of God. It’s a progressive revelation of who God is. And then he says this. See, some people said, “Well, sometimes God heals, but then other,” no no no no. He’s always the Lord our healer. He’s never changed from being the Lord our healer. He’s the always the Lord our peace. He never changes from being the Lord our peace. He’s always the Lord, our deliverer. He’s always the Lord, our righteousness. He’s always the Lord, our sanctification. He’s always the Lord who is there. He’s always ever the same. Jehovah Jireh, our provider. He never, ever changes from who He says that He is. He’s always Jehovah Mekoddish, our sanctified, glory to God. In Malachi 3:6, he says this, he says, “I am the Lord and I change not.” I change not, he’s never gonna change. Now, not only is God always the same, Jesus is always the same. What bad did Jesus ever do to any person when he walked on the planet, when he walked on the earth? Was Jesus ever bad to anyone? Did he ever kill anyone? Did he ever strike anybody dead? No, he didn’t. 14 times it says, what’d he do? They brought unto him all who were sick and oppressed to the devil, and he healed them all. He healed them of every kind of disease. He healed them, he fed them, he blessed them, he delivered them, he raised them, amen? Jesus Christ, Hebrews 13:8 says Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever, God says, “I’m the Lord and I don’t change. I’m not changing.” Amen? So we have an unchangeable God. Not only do we have an unchangeable God, Jesus Christ never, ever, ever changes. If you wanna know who God is, you look at Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. You look at the gospels. He says John says it so beautifully in 1:18, no man has seen God. No man has fully comprehended or understood who God is. But the only begotten son who is from the bosom of the Father, He has declared him, He has revealed him. He has openly made him known. If you wanna see the Father, you look at the son. Philip, if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. Praise God. You want to know God? Get to know Jesus. Get to know Jesus, you know God. Amen. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. So the nature of God has been revealed in the life of Christ. Not only do we have an unchangeable God, but we have the unchangeable word. How many of you are glad the word doesn’t change? The word is the same. I love this verse in Psalm 119:89, he says, “Forever, oh Lord, your word is settled in heaven.” It’s settled forever, it’s never, ever gonna change. Hebrews 1:3 speaking about Jesus says he upholds all things by the word of his power. When a word goes out of God’s mouth, it goes into eternity and produces fruit. It never, ever changes. He never, ever turns back. He never reverses it. God is not a man that he should lie. Neither the son of man that is your pen. Has he not said it, shall he not do it, has he not spoken it, shall he not make it good? Man, what God says, God keeps His word. Hi, friends, we’ve been sharing on the goodness of God, and we’ve got these teachings and many others like them absolutely free of charge on our website at charischristiancenter.com, there are downloadable audio, downloadable video, and we also have a great kids curriculum free of charge. Thanks so much. We’re back to the word, blessings. Past, present, and future tense sin were paid for on the cross by the blood. There is no other payment that needs to be paid for your forgiveness. As far as God is concerned, He got over your sin at the cross, and you need to let it go. You need to get over it. That is the gospel. Let’s turn to Hebrews 6. I wanna look at some of these verses in Hebrews 6. We’ll start looking in verse 12. He says, “Don’t be slothful, but followers of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Don’t dig up your bean seed. Great word, Barbara. Don’t dig up your bean seed. What a great word that preaches now. Be followers of those who through faith and patience, for when God made a promise, he says in verse 13 to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself saying “Surely blessing, I’m gonna bless you and multiply them. Listen. In blessing, I’m gonna bless you. I’m gonna bless you. In multiplying, I’m gonna multiply you.” Oh, I love that word. I love the word of the Lord. And we pastored in Eastern Colorado, we were starting out, and when I started in the cattle business to make a little money on the side, and we went out, I borrowed everything. I mean, I borrowed everything. I had a horse and I had a guy in New York City, and he lived in New York State, but he worked in New York City. He was a South American banker. He liked these kind of horses. So I asked him because I had favor with him, his name was Nelson Ruiz. He worked at the Banco Rio de la Plata. It was a South American bank on Fifth Avenue or whatever, I mean, right downtown New York City. And so I asked Nelson, I said, “Nelson, would you loan me some money on a horse?” And yeah, he loaned me $10,000 and I send him the horse papers. Hallelujah. And I went to the bank and borrowed $20,000 and went and bought 40 head of calves, or 50, I don’t know. I had one of my farmers, he said, “Hey, I got some calves out in this pasture, and you can put 40 or 50 head out there” he told me, and I dropped them off to fly to Africa to go to mission deal. So by the time he got home from Africa, I had 40 or 50 head in his pasture. Boy, they did good. They grew big. They did well, we sold them. They got big and I sold them, they made a lot of money, they I bought some more, and they made money. Hallelujah. But I started, I was borrowing every dime. We went out to visit these people way out in the country, and they said, “It must be nice to be a rich preacher.” And I thought, “Whoa, what do they see?” I mean, it was just, it took us everything we had to just keep our head above water. And I was telling Bobby Jean Merck about it when she came, now Bobby Jean ministered for Lester Sumrall, Rod Parsley, the who’s who, I mean, Benny Hinn, she ministered for all those people. And I asked her to come to Kit Carson, and she said, “I’ll come.” I was so happy to have her come. So I got her and we drove her. She called Kit Carson little rusher. She wanted to stay the first time in the hotel. And then Sunday morning, they didn’t have hot water. And she told the guy at the front desk and he said, “Well I know.” There’s beer cans under her bed. So she decided after that she would stay with some of our people because she said, “This is worse than rusher.” The Wagon Wheel Motel. They knocked it down now. But anyway, she came out there and I was telling her about this. These people say this, “Must be nice to be a rich preacher.” I said, “I don’t know what they see.” And she said, “It’s not what they see on the outside, Lawson.” She said, “It’s the annoyingness on you.” And she sent me this card with this praying man on it. And she wrote an increase shall be a key word, but it has been, it’s been amazing. Hallelujah. And then she came here to Colorado Springs shortly before she went home to be with Jesus. And she said, “The things that were stolen from you early in your life, God has taken them to heaven and He’s multiplied them, and He’s gonna put them back in the end of your life.” And there were some things that were stolen from me, and God is multiplying them, and He’s putting them into the end of my life. I’m thanking God that He’s so good and He keeps His word. And His word is so true. But you know what, you don’t quit. He says those who threw faith and patience inherit the promises for when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no greater, He swore by Himself saying, “Surely in blessing, I’m the one who’s gonna bless you, in multiplying, I’m gonna multiply you.” So after Abraham had patiently endured, he obtained the promise for men verily swear by the greater and an oath for confirmation to them is an end all strife wherein God willing more abundantly to show the heirs of the promise, the immutability, verse 17, the unchangeability of His counsel, or the unchangeability of His word, confirmed it by an oath. God couldn’t go down to the justice of the peace and get a signature. God couldn’t go down to the notary public and get somebody greater than Himself. So God swore by Himself, “In blessing, I’m gonna bless you, in multiplying, I’m gonna multiply you.” God willing more abundantly, look at that in verse 17, willing more abundantly to show the heirs of the promise. How many of you are heirs of the promise? If you read Galatians 3, we’re heirs of the promise. We’ve received an inheritance. You ever received an inheritance? You didn’t work to get it. You didn’t save to get it. You didn’t toil to get it. You just showed up, believed, and received it. Amen. We’ve received an inheritance. He says this, the unchangeability of His word confirmed by an oath in that He swore by Himself that by two unchangeable things, number one, He said it, number two, He swore by himself, I’m gonna do it. He says, in which it’s impossible for God to lie that we might have a strong confidence, strong hope, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us. How many of us, strong confidence? Strong confidence. He says this, “Which hope we have as an anchor to the soul, both sure and steadfast, which enters into that within the veil.” We have hope. How many of you are glad we got hope? Faith is the substance of things hoped for, we have hope. A lot of people think they have faith and it’s really hope. Hope’s when you know that it’s a possibility, right? Faith’s when you know it’s yours. Hope’s when you know this is a promise for me. David said, “I’ve hoped in your word.” When you know it’s a promise for you, that’s hope. When you know what’s yours, that’s faith. There’s a difference between hope and faith. Hope is still in the future. Faith is, no, it’s mine now. You may not see it now, but faith, you gotta know you got it. So we have this hope is an anchor to the soul. It enters into that what’s in the veil. What’s in the veil? Jesus seceded in the presence of God, continually making intercession for us, Hebrews 7 says. Hebrews 10 says this in verse 19, “Come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and help the time of need.” It says that in another place. But he says, “We can come boldly.” Let’s turn over to Hebrews 10 and look at this, and we’ll come back here in a minute to Hebrews 6. But he says, Hebrews 10:19, having therefore brethren boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus, we come into the presence of God because of the blood of Jesus by a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say his flesh. And having this high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a pure heart in full assurance of the faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience. We have our, you know what an evil conscience, an evil conscience is focused on our performance. Quit focusing on your performance and focus on the performance of Jesus. Having our heart sprinkled from an evil conscious and our bodies washed with pure water. Amen, the washing of the water of the word. Let us hold fast to the profession of our faith without wavering for He is faithful who promised, hold fast, hold fast. Don’t quit believing. Don’t quit believing. Never, ever, ever give up.

Amen.

Amen. Hallelujah. Don’t quit believing. Keep believing God. Good things happen when you keep believing God. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. We just stay at it. We never quit. Glory to God. I got some never quit things. We’ve had some never quit answers here at this church. I’m gonna have some never quit answers in my life. I’ve already had some, I’m gonna get some more shortly. Amen, we just stay at it. You know what? I like this. I think Vince Lombardi said this, “We play till we win.” Hallelujah. “We play till we win.” Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Some people don’t know how to not take no for an answer. We’re gonna believe till we win. I’ve already read the end of the story. I already know the end of the book. Praise God. God is so good. Now let’s read. Go back to Hebrew 6. Hebrews 6, the very end of the chapter, we have this hope as an anchor to our soul. Sure and steadfast that enters into the veil where the forerunner for us entered even Jesus made a high priest after the order of Melchizedek, my king of righteousness, Melchizedek is translated, “My king of righteousness.” How many of you are glad that Jesus is our king of righteousness, our king of righteousness? So we got an unchangeable word of an unchangeable God. I love this. In 2 Samuel 7:28-29, this is David. David is talking after the Lord reveals, you know, David wants to build the temple. Nathan says, “Go ahead and do it.” Man, David hardly gets out the door and God tells Nathan, “No, David’s not the man to build the temple. I don’t want him to build the temple.” So he goes and tells David, “Hey, you’re not the man.” David says, “Well, hey, if I can’t do it, let me raise the money.” You know most people in church, what happens if you tell them they can’t do something, they get mad, run off. David was a man after God’s heart. God says, “David, you’re not the man to do this. I got somebody else to do that.” David says, “Okay, let me raise the money.” I love that attitude! And this is right after that because God says, “David, I’m gonna put a seed from your house on the throne of the house of Israel forever.” And then you read in Revelation 22, it says “He that has the key of David. It’s Jesus Christ, the seed of David.” Friends, we’ve been talking about the goodness of God from creation clear through the revelation, from the beginning of the Word of God to the end of the Word of God, God is always good. And when you get a revelation of the goodness of God, it will help you receive from God. We have a lot of teachings like this on our website. They’re absolutely free of charge.
