Healing Covenant
God doesn’t change– He stays the same! All throughout the Bible, we see that it is clearly God’s will to heal. When the Israelites left Egypt, God told them that He is the LORD who heals them. There are so many promises in the Bible for healing. All of these promises still remain true and are part of God’s covenant with believers through the finished work of Jesus. If you are a follower of Jesus- you can see that He is a healer. He was either healing someone, going to heal someone, or coming from healing someone. As you listen to these teachings, we know that faith will be stirred in your heart and that your faith will make you well in Jesus’ name!
Healing Covenant Transcript
Friends, this week, I’m teaching on healing covenant, and we’re doing something different in that we’re bringing in live teaching from Charis Christian Center. I believe that a lot of people are gonna be blessed and be healed. So stay tuned to the broadcast. Open your heart, receive the word of God, and remember that God sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions in Jesus’ name. Friends, today, I’m gonna be talking about healing, and I’m gonna be sharing how healing is a covenant right of believers. If you have put faith in Jesus, you are a child of God, you are the seed of Abraham by faith in Jesus, and healing is your covenant right. So open your heart and receive the word of God, and we have a great testimony on the end of the broadcast.
Today we’re gonna talk again that healing is part of God’s covenant. So I wanna begin here in Luke chapter 13. We’re gonna begin reading in verse 10. We will read through verse 17, and then we’ll go back and comment on these scriptures. “As he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath, behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years, and she was bound together and could in no way lift herself up. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him and said to her, ‘Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity,’ and he laid his hands on her, and immediately, she was made straight and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day and said to the people, ‘There are six days in which men should work. In them, therefore, come and be healed, but not on the Sabbath day,’ and the Lord answered him and said, ‘You hypocrite. Don’t each one of you on the Sabbath day loose his donkey and his cow from the stall and lead them away to watering? And should not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, these 18 years be loosed on the Sabbath day?’ And when he had said these things, all of his adversaries were ashamed, and all the people rejoiced for the glorious things that were done by him.” I wanna focus for a minute on verse 16 before we go back to verse 10. “This woman,” Jesus said, “is a daughter of Abraham.” In other words, Jesus said, “She has a covenant right to be healed as a daughter of Abraham.” If you study Galatians chapter 3, and we’ll look at it later if we get there, we as born again believers are the seed of Abraham through faith in Jesus, and we have, just like this woman, a covenant right to be healed. He said, “This woman who is a daughter of Abraham, who Satan has bound.” Satan is the author of sickness. The Bible says, “For this purpose was the son of God manifest that he might destroy the works of the devil,” I John 3:8. I love something Lester Sumrall said. He said, “I hate sickness like I hate sin because it comes from the same place,” and I will agree with him 100%. In fact, I’ll add something to it. I hate poverty like I hate sin because it comes from the same place. Sickness, poverty, and sin are all part of the curse, and they’re all part of the devil’s business, and I hate the devil and his works. “This woman whom Satan is bound,” Jesus said. She oughta come and be loosed on the Sabbath day. Hallelujah, on the Sabbath. Jesus said, “I don’t want her to be sick for one more day.” You know, the Bible actually says this in II Corinthians 6:2. It says, “Today, now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation.” Now, when we study salvation, the Greek word , it includes forgiveness, healing, provision, protection, and peace. It’s all part of God’s covenant, and it was all provided in Christ on the cross when he died and rose again. Amen, praise God. It’s an inclusive word. You study Isaiah 53, I Peter 2:24-25. Salvation is talking about wholeness, wellbeing, spirit, soul, and body, amen? Praise God. So healing is a covenant right. Satan is the author of sickness, and God wants you to receive healing, just like he wants you to receive forgiveness. Now, let’s go back to verse 10. “As he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day.” What was Jesus teaching? The scripture says that he preached the word or he taught the word. He was teaching them the word of God, and why were people coming to listen to Jesus teach? It says in both Luke 5:15 and Luke 6:17 that they came to together to hear him and to be healed by him of their diseases. Romans 10:17 says, “Now then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” The literal Greek says something like this. “Now then faith comes by declaration and declaration by the mouth of God.” When we declare who God says that he is, then that will build faith in the hearts of those who receive the word of God. Now, I did a teaching one time years ago on every healing miracle of Jesus in the gospels, and when I went through it, I saw the evidence of faith in at least 97% of the healing miracles of Jesus that I could see. Now, I’ve spoken with Andrew Wommack, who’s one of the strongest teachers in the world on the subject of divine healing, and Andrew Wommack says that there is evidence of faith in every person who receives divine healing. You see, it’s provided by grace, but it must be received by faith. Healing is a covenant right. Verse 16, Luke 13:16. “Shouldn’t this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound these 18 years, be loosed on the Sabbath day?” She’s a daughter of Abraham. Galatians 3:13-14 says this. “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being a curse for us, being made a curse for us, for its written curse it is everyone who hangs on a tree so that the blessings of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith.” We go on down to verse 16. “Now to Abraham and his seed,” singular, “were the promises made.” He doesn’t say and to seeds as of many but, “as to one and to thy seed who is Christ.” We are the seed of Abraham through faith in Jesus Christ. He says then in verse 26 to 29, “For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ.” You know why you get all the stuff? You get all the stuff because you’re God’s kids. It isn’t because Pastor Lawson been a good boy. It’s ’cause you’re God’s kid, and he love to bless his children. “For as many as you have been baptized into Christ to put on Christ, it’s not about religion or it’s not about, you know, your nationality. It’s not about being Jew or Greek. It’s not about being bond an employer or free an employer. It’s not about how much money you have or don’t. There is neither male nor female. It’s not about gender, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” We are one in Christ Jesus, and if you be Christ’s, then you’re Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise. When Jesus did this, if we go back to Luke chapter 13 in verse 17, it says, “When he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed, and all the people rejoiced for the glorious thing that were done by him.” You know what? Religion wept but the common people rejoiced when Jesus shared the good news of God’s saving and healing power, amen? And today, did you know what? Religion may weep, but the common people will rejoice. Friends, it’s great to have you with us today receiving the word of God, but we have so much more to share. And in these teachings, you can receive them, either in downloadable audio or downloadable video, off our website at charischristiancenter.com. They’re absolutely free of charge, and we have them and many others. So go to our website and receive God’s word. Friends, Jackson Clip is gonna be on in just a few seconds, and he’s going to be sharing his testimony about how Jesus healed him of an incurable disease. After he had been told by the doctors that he was gonna die young, on over 11 medications every day, Jesus completely healed him when he believed the word of God and received it, so stay tuned. Friends, it’s great to have you here, and it’s great to have Jackson with me today and Ashley. They’re longtime church members, and we’re here to share a miracle testimony about Jackson. They had actually been in the church for six years, and Jackson right now is 13 years old, but they came to the church when Jackson was four years old, and he began getting sick when he was just three months old, but then when he was 10 years old, God healed him. It was amazing. It’s amazing testimony, and it’s medically confirmed, and we just thank God for it. So what do you wanna tell the people, Jackson?
That no matter what, no matter what Satan throws at you, God can help you overcome.
Amen. Praise God. That’s good, and, you know, you got healed actually when you were 10 years old. You’d been in the church, you had heard the word of God, and I heard this and you tell me whether I’m right or wrong, but I heard that you just woke up and said, “God healed Pastor Lawson when he was a little boy, and God’s gonna heal me.”
Yeah. So the night before, I decided to not take my medicine and to just decide to be healed. My grandpa and I were watching TV, and we saw a commercial. It was about one of the medicines I was taking, one of the 10 a day that I was taking, and it said that if you were taking that medicine that like later in your life, it can cause like really bad side effects and to see an attorney, it was one of those, and I was like, “I don’t wanna have those problems.” So then I woke up, and Mom’s told me to take my medicine, and I said that I wasn’t gonna take him anymore, and that when you were a boy the same age that I was, that you got healed, and so could I.
Yeah. So I also heard, I think I heard you say this, that you said, “I’m done with the sickness, and I’m done with the devil.”
Yeah.
Yep.
That’s amazing. So you made a decision that, “I’m gonna believe God, I’m gonna believe the scripture, and I’m gonna be healed.”
Yep.
So that’s really, really amazing. You know, Jesse Duplantis talks about this, and I heard him say this years and years ago. He said, “Most of the time in the realm of faith, I made a decision and God backed it,” and I heard Jesse say that over 10 years ago, and it just got on the inside of me and wouldn’t let go of me. And I’ve had that happen in some other areas, but that really touched me that you just made a decision.
Yeah, I just decided ’cause I didn’t wanna have side effects later in life ’cause I would have to take a medicine 30 minutes before breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And if I didn’t take that, I would immediately throw up the food like within 30 minutes, and I couldn’t digest anything, and I didn’t gain weight for like a whole year when I was three and four. Like I was the exact same size. And then once we discovered that I had gastroparesis and a few other diseases like primary ciliary dyskinesia and stuff like that, then when I started taking that medicine, then I started gaining weight, but then I wasn’t gaining as much weight as I should’ve. I was still really low in weight, and then, yeah, and then once I decided to be done, now I’m where I’m supposed to be with height, weight, and everything, so.
You’re growing like a weed.
Yeah. He’s as tall as I am now.
He’s as tall as Mama.
Yep.
That’s awesome. So this is just supernatural. So you were on 10 when God healed you when you were 10 years old, and you’d been sick since you were three months old. You were on 10 different medications every day.
Yeah, that’s when I was healthy.
Yeah, when you were healthy.
That was just to get him
Well, not healthy.
through being just like a normal day, and then when he would get sick, then they would add on more medications. And they were getting close to the point where they wanted to put like a port in his chest and do IVIGs, which is like fake immune system, basically, to try and help him. And so it was gonna have to be like every three weeks that we’d have to go, and it’d be an eight hour process.
Wow.
Yeah.
Ashley, kind of talk to us about how you felt about this as a mom, you know-
It was hard, for sure. There were plenty of times where he would cry and say that he just wanted to go be with Jesus ’cause he was just tired and didn’t wanna keep fighting ’cause it was a lot, and it was torture watching him go through surgeries and screaming and crying for just getting simple blood work done and stuff like that and trying to bribe him to like not have a meltdown while getting that done. But it was in all of this, I ended up finding God, too, through that because I thought that God was punishing me for past mistakes that I had made, and then I started realizing who God was and his love, and then that helped me be able to show him like, “This is not how God called you to live, and this isn’t what Jesus died for you to be like.”
Amen.
Yeah. Being a mom is hard.
Yeah, yeah. Now, if I’m correct, the doctors had said that Jackson wouldn’t live a full life, that he would die at a young age.
Correct. They didn’t know what his expectancy was. So with gastroparesis, the stomach’s paralyzed, so he wasn’t able to digest food, and there’d be times he would throw up food that was like a week old sitting in his stomach. So that alone can shorten your lifespan, and then with primary ciliary dyskinesia, his body basically couldn’t like filter out the germs, and so with that, you can end up needing a lung transplant, and that also adds on a shortened life expectancy as well. So nobody really knew what the future held for him.
Right.
Yeah. I remember a few days ago, Mom showed me a video. I came up to her, and I was crying ’cause it was a week or a month before I was going to kindergarten, and I didn’t even know if I would make it to kindergarten, and I remember I was so happy because I didn’t even know if I would make it there, and-
Yeah, he was crying tears of joy ’cause he was excited he could just go to kindergarten like a normal kid.
That’s awesome.
Yep.
But what’s awesome, you know, you came here. You kept hearing the word. You kept hearing that God wanted to heal you. You kept hearing that this is God’s will, that this is what Jesus died for, and then, you know, there came a point in time that you just realized that, like you said.
It was actually during COVID of all times to do. His school basically said, “We don’t want you to be here.” This was before school shut down because they worried about him, and he had a plan at school so that he didn’t get in trouble for missing it. And we were inside the house for six weeks ’cause we didn’t know what was gonna happen, you know, with COVID and everything, and he felt the best he’s ever felt in his entire life, and then within about two days of going back in public, he got sick again. He got strep, and he was like, “I don’t wanna do this anymore. Like, I’m done being sick. I know what it feels like to feel good. I know what Jesus paid for to do. Done with the devil. Done with all of it.”
It was like right in the middle of quarantine where I just decided to be done. So it was kind of strange because it was like, normally I would be like telling everyone I know, but I couldn’t because I couldn’t leave the house, you know? So it was kind of hard to like keep my excitement inside of the house, you know.
He went in the backyard and yelled it. He’s like, “I’m healed. Done with the devil.”
So this was right in the quarantine. So this would’ve been kind of mid April, early May 2020 when they locked down the whole nation with COVID, and you watched an ad with your grandpa at night, saw him advertising this medication, and said, “I’m not gonna have this anymore. I’m not gonna be sick. I’m not gonna take it.” Praise God. You know, we all need to get like that sometimes. “I’m just done with the devil, I’m done with the sickness, and I’m not gonna take it anymore,” and just start believing what the Bible says. And then you got up the next morning. You told your mom you’re not taking your medication.
I’m not taking it, and she said that I couldn’t just stop ’cause some of the medication I was on, if I would just stop, like I would go through withdrawals of it, and I could, I don’t remember the exact things that could happen, but like it would make me even more sick than I was. So like over the span of a week, I was done taking all medications, like-
Yeah, we weaned him off of some of them, and we didn’t tell anybody we were doing it. I mean, we told my dad, but we didn’t tell the doctors, anything ’cause we didn’t want their influence trying to change what he had decided, and so we went six months, which I think the longest we ever went without seeing a doctor was like six days or a week. She looked at him, and she had been seeing him his entire life since he was born, and she looked at me, and she’s like, “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with him. Like, I can’t find a single thing wrong with him,” and he told her, “I know Jesus healed me,” and she said, “I can’t argue with that.”
Praise God. So this was the doctor that said this? Yeah. So you have a medically confirmed miracle.
Yep. Yeah, I remember every time that the doctor would be like, “Well, you probably have this and this,” I’d be like, “Well, that’s not what God says, so.”
Yeah, and we’d go home and we would say, “The doctor says this, but God says this.”
Yeah, and after a while, we had like healing scriptures like all over the house on, my closet door, in the bathroom. Like literally everywhere that you could think of in the house, we had healing scriptures.
We had sticky notes everywhere.
Yeah.
So now when did you put these healing scriptures up?
Like from the time I could read, honestly.
Yeah, so started-
Probably three or four.
You actually were believing the word for a long time, and then it just became real to you. You know, “This is the day,” you know, “This is the day of my deliverance.” Now I heard that the day that you made that decision and you had some allergy to some kind of food you can tell us about, but I heard you ate a whole boxes of some kind of crackers and ate a whole Chipotle burrito. Tell us about that.
Yeah, Teddy Grahams.
I was gluten free, dairy free,
Sugar free,
sugar free,
processed food free.
hypoallergenic. Like, I couldn’t use anything with adhesive because it like whenever I would go to the doctor’s and they would have to like put a bandaid like after a shot and we’d pull it off, my skin would come off, and I twisted, or not twisted, but I like pulled my neck once, and we had to put tape over it, and when we pulled it off, like it was just like blood.
It would peel his skin ’cause he was allergic to it.
Like there’d be no more skin, and I could only use certain types of soap and conditioner and laundry detergent,
First thing he wanted
everything.
was Teddy Grahams.
I ate a whole box of Teddy Grahams and a whole Chipotle burrito and-
He had never been to eat
Like I ate pizza.
that much food in his entire life.
Yeah, I really-
You you weren’t a very big young man then, so-
He was not.
So you were eating gluten free and you ate a whole box of Teddy Grahams. Did you eat the whole Chipotle burrito, too?
He sure did.
Yep, the entire thing.
Wow. That’s amazing.
I was a little bit worried about it because he had never, like, normally, he’d eat like small portions of food, and it would still make him sick, and he was like,
Yeah because-
“Mom, I can do it. I can eat the whole thing,” and I was like,
And you didn’t get sick?
“Okay.”
No, ’cause the only thing I could ever have from Chipotle was either like quesadillas with no tortilla, so basically just cheese
Meat and cheese.
or a burrito bowl, and I couldn’t even eat that without feeling sick.
And you went from that, and Jesus healed you. So you know what? An amazing testimony, and Jackson, you wanna grow up and minister the gospel and tell people about the goodness of God. So just tell the people, just bless them as we go.
Dear God, I thank you for today, and I thank you that the people watching will receive this message and that they won’t just receive it, but that it’ll really get to them and that if they’re dealing with some kind of illness like I did, that they can be like, “This young boy named Jackson was healed, and his pastor was healed at a young age, and so can I.” So Father, leaving this, I pray that everyone watching this will be healed and be blessed.
So thanks so much and God bless you. We appreciate you. Friend, I want to encourage you today to call us if you need prayer.
