Promise, Price, and Power of Redemption Transcript
Praise the Lord, friends, I’m so glad that you’ve tuned in. We’re here today and we’re talking about promises of redemption, and we’re gonna be spending some time today in Isaiah 54, which is really a promise of the new covenant. And we are gonna see some amazing revelation in this broadcast. So, you wanna stay tuned and you want to get ahold of these promises. Thank you, and God bless you. Friends, I’m so glad that you’re with us today. We’ve been talking about the promises of redemption, and thank God we have so many promises. We have a Bible full of promises. And Jesus paid the price so that we can receive them. And so, today I’m gonna read these couple, we’ve went over ’em, but I’m gonna read ’em briefly just to talk about very briefly some of these promises. Isaiah 48, verse 17, “Thus said, the Lord, thy redeemer, the holy one of Israel, “‘I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, “who leads you by the way that you should go.'” Thank God, He, God, will teach us how to profit. I love this promise in Deuteronomy 8:18. It says, “But you shall remember the Lord your God, “for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth, “that He may establish His covenant with you.” Hallelujah. God gives you the power. That word power in Deuteronomy 8:18 is the Hebrew word koach, and it’s talking about force, might, power, strength, ability, even wealth to get wealth. You know what? Everything good that we have came from God. And if we have ability to get wealth, it came from God. And I thank God. I have a neighbor and he’s very wealthy naturally, but he hasn’t always been wealthy spiritually. But I believe his heart has changed and some different things are happening, and he’s turning his heart to the Lord. And this man has a tremendous power to get wealth. And I believe that he’s gonna soon be in a life-giving relationship with Jesus, and know that it’s God who’s given him this ability. And when I first met him, he was in a relationship, he wasn’t married, he’d had a couple of failed marriages. Kind of like the woman at the well, she had five, it wasn’t working out very well. And he was with this woman and he said, “She’s my girlfriend, not my wife.” And I mean, he was, but then he got with this one lady and she’s born again and she knows Jesus. And recently he got married, I’m so excited. And I was visiting with him, and I can just notice a change. But if you have wealth, it is God who gave you the ability to get wealth. And He is the God who teaches us to profit and leads us in the way to go. Amen? You were talking about a friend, Aaron, that you have that’s born again. He knows Jesus. He was your best friend in high school. He went to a traditional church, Presbyterian, and then he married a Catholic girl, but now they go to a Catholic church. But the pastor, the priest is like a spirit filled Catholic priest, because a lot of things he says, I’m saying. I’m like “Wow, that’s amazing.” When we were living in Kit Carson for 13 years, for 10 of those years, we had a priest that was there and he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, born again and baptizing the Holy Spirit, loved the Lord Jesus. He was a good man that loved God. And we had a good friendship with him. But anyway, you were telling me that your friend has been buying NBA tickets and reselling them, and he goes to some of the games and resells ’em and makes money. Praise God, he’s doing well. God’s blessed him. But you taught him how to buy and sell stuff on the internet and he used this, and I believe it’s God that gave you the ability, gave you your business ideas. And I believe God gives us creative ideas and helps us prosper. God wants us to prosper. And so, he teaches us to profit and leads us by the way that we should go. I remember when I went to Houston, when you were living in a 500 square foot apartment and you put a scripture up at the right by the post of your bed, right by the head of your bed, and it said, “I am blessed by the Lord, “the possessor of heaven and earth.” And I thought, “Thank God you got a revelation, amen.” And the Lord blessed you, the Lord helped you. And so we got that promise right there in Isaiah 48:17, and then just a chapter over in Isaiah 49, there’s some more promises here of redemption in Isaiah 49. I’m looking for a specific one. I’ll look it up. I got it right here. Isaiah 49:26 says, “I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh. “They will be drunken with their own blood, “as with sweet wine, “and all flesh will know that I, the Lord, “am your Savior and your redeemer, “the mighty one of Jacob.” Man, God is our savior and He is our redeemer. He is the mighty one of Israel.
Several times in the Old Testament, God would protect the Israelites by just causing the enemies to just…
Destroy themselves.
Destroy themselves.
Yeah.
And that happened several times where just the spirit of fear came up upon people. I’m thinking about the story of Gideon when the Midianites were attacking Israel. He just took his army of 300 and they surrounded that army in the middle of the night and they just shouted the sword of the Lord and of Gideon too. And they broke these jars and blew the trumpets. I don’t even know if they had sword. I’m sure they had a sword attached to them, but they had a jar and a trumpet in one hand, and the spirit of fear was on that army. And they all destroyed themselves.
Yeah. They fought with each other, destroyed each other. You know, it’s amazing what God will do when you’ll believe Him. And I was actually reminded of Gideon the other day, because sometimes we think that our strength is in great numbers and great wealth and different things. And God said, “Listen, with 300 men, “Gideon, man, won a great victory for Israel.” Brought Israel into great victory. And the Lord, I mean, was just like speaking to me. It’s not always in great numbers. “It’s not by might nor by power,” the Lord says, “but by my spirit.” And so, Gideon is a great testimony, and people knew when Gideon won that victory, it wasn’t a victory accomplished by man, it was a victory accomplished by God. And I know there’s things that we’ve had that happened and so on and so forth, people know that being in this building and have it completely paid for, they just gave us a new tax evaluation on this building and they said it was worth $28.9 million. And I actually protested it because I thought it was too high, and they moved it down to 24 million. But we don’t have nearly that much money in it, and we have it paid for. And it’s a miracle, it’s a victory accomplished not by man, but by God. And God is the one who blesses us, and God is the one who also protects us. God spoke to Abraham and you can see these promises all over, but in talking about promises of redemption in Genesis chapter 15, the first part of the chapter, and He said, “Fear not Abraham, “I am your shield and you’re exceeding great reward.” So not only am I gonna bless you, but I’m gonna protect the blessing that I give you. And we see that. The Bible actually says this in Psalm 5:12. Thank God for all of these promises that we have, that talking about promises of blessing, promises of protection. Psalm 5:12 says, “For you, Lord, “will bless the righteous and with favor, “you will compass him about as with the shield.” Again, God will bless you, God will help you, God will increase you, but God will also protect you. In the world, if you don’t know the Lord, people always worry how to keep what they have. But the Lord, He says He’ll bless you and He’ll protect you blessing with favor and protection. Praise God, favor leads to blessing and protection, amen. Thank God for that. We have favor with God. Favor, the favor of God can do more for you in 10 seconds than you can do in a lifetime. People are always trying to finagle things, play politics, do all these things. But man, if God got me here, God can keep me here. Amen?
The favor of God protects us. I love the scripture that says, “With favor, “you’ll surround me like as with a shield.”
Yeah, it’s right there. We just read it. Psalms 5:12.
That’s powerful.
Amen. So, He blesses. Lord, you’ll bless the righteousness with favor, you’ll protect, you’ll surround me as with a shield. Thank God there’s protection. We have all these promises, blessing, protection, provision, all these promises of redemption. Healing is a promise of redemption. Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His word and healed them “and delivered them, freed them from their destruction.” Man, the Lord will send His word, thank God and heal you. There’s healing power in the word of God. Amen. You need to believe and speak the words of God. You know, the Bible actually says in Proverbs 4:20-22, that the word is health to us and medicine to all our flesh. Amen, the word is health. My son, attend to my words. Give an ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart for their life unto all those that find them and health. And I believe that word health there in the Hebrew is the word marpe, which means medicine, a cure, to make whole, health to all their flesh. The word is like a prescription for you. And you can take the word, you can speak the word and see health come to your physical body. Amen. You know, the centurion came to Jesus in Mark chapter eight. I believe it’s Mark chapter eight. I may be wrong on the address on that. That might be Matthew chapter eight, and it might be Mark chapter two. But he came to Jesus and he said, “Lord, will you come and…”
Heal my servant.
“Will you heal my servant? “And Jesus said, ‘I’ll come and heal him.'” He said, “I’m not worthy “that you should enter into my house, “but speak the word only and my servant shall be healed.” For I say to one “go,” and he goes, to another “Come” and he comes. In other words, this servant, this centurion is a Roman ruler over 50 or 100 people. He understood authority because I’m a man of authority. And I say to one, “Go,” and he goes and to another, “Come” and he comes. And he knew that Jesus had authority in the area of healing, physical healing. So, he knew Jesus had the power. So he said, “Speak the word only, “and my servant shall be healed.”
Said that Jesus marveled at his faith.
And said, “Great is your faith.” In all Israel, I haven’t seen faith like this. And in other words, Jesus went, said, you know, there’s gonna be many in the kingdom that were called that aren’t gonna make it. But he said outsiders become insiders when they put their faith in God. So here was a Roman, a centurion, a gentile who saw greater miracles, had greater faith than many people who were covenant people because he just believed. And he said, “Jesus, speak the word over my servant.” And so Jesus said, “Great is your faith, “it’ll be done as you’ve spoken.” So, He went back to his house, found his servant completely cured. They said, “When did he get better?” And his other people said about this same hour, it was the same hour that Jesus spoke the word and said, “As you believe, so be it.” Amen. So keep believing the word, keep speaking the word, keep acting on the word of God and see the promises of God come to pass. We have many promises of redemption. We’re gonna take a short break. We’ll be back right after this break. So stay tuned. Blessings. Friends, thanks so much for being with us today. I’ve been teaching on the promise, the price, and the power of redemption. Before we came here, there was a disconnect between what God offers us and what we feel like we have to earn. This is a place that really teaches God’s grace. And I’ve seen my dad be transformed.
Every morning, I just, I say, “Jesus, thank you because of your word “and because of your blood, “I’m more a man of faith today than I was yesterday.”
Friends, I’m so glad that you stayed with us. We’re gonna go into some more promises of redemption. I wanna turn to Isaiah 54. It’s one of the most powerful scriptures. It’s right after Isaiah 53, which is talking about Jesus on the cross, which is really the price of redemption, but it’s talking about the promises of the new covenant. And Jesus, what He did on the cross really empowered the new covenant. And so, we’re gonna start reading in Isaiah chapter 54. Aaron, why don’t you start reading there. Isaiah 54, 5-9.
It says, “For your maker is your husband, “the Lord of hosts is his name, “and your redeemer is the holy one of Israel. “He is called the God of the whole earth. “For the Lord has called you like a woman forsaken “and grieved in spirit. “Like a youthful wife when you were refused, says the Lord. “For a mere moment, I have forsaken you, “but with great mercies, I will gather you. “With a little wrath, I hid my face from you for a moment, “but with everlasting kindness, I will have mercy on you, “says the Lord, your redeemer.”
Amen. So, what he’s actually talking about, he’s talking about Jesus on the cross, and he says, “I’m the Lord your redeemer.” And when it says in verse six, “The Lord has called you as a woman forsaken, “grieved in the spirit and a wife of youth. “When you’re refused.” And then in verse seven, more specifically, “For a small moment, have I forsaken you, “but with great mercies, I will gather you.” Verse eight, “In a little wrath, “I hid my face from you for a moment.” He says, “But with everlasting kindness, “I’ll have mercy on you, says the Lord your redeemer.” So what is the small moment that God forsook someone?
When Jesus was on the cross.
When Jesus was on the cross. And David actually prophesied about that in Psalm 27:1 it’s a prophecy of the cross. Or Psalm 22:1, where he said, “My God, my God, “why has thou forsaken me?” And as you go through Psalm 22, you could see numbers of scriptures that are right point to the cross. A thousand years before the cross, David prophesied the Lord Jesus saving us by dying on the cross. And then in Psalm 23, you see David talking about the Lord is my shepherd, and what these promises that we receive when we understand Jesus is Lord. And then in Psalm 24, we see the prophecies of Jesus as coming as king. And so, when you begin to look at that, it’s really talking about redemption. Jesus is the savior, Lord and king, and he paid for redemption on the cross. So, when Isaiah says this, Isaiah 54, written about six or 700 years before Christ, “For a small moment, I’ve forsaken you, “and in great mercies, I will gather you, “in a little wrath, I hid my face from you.” While Jesus was on the cross, God’s anger and judgment was poured out on Him, but He poured that out on Jesus so we don’t have to have God’s anger and judgment. He says, “But with everlasting kindness, “I’ll have mercy on you, says the Lord, your redeemer.” Thank God for a promise of redemption, what Jesus would do on the cross. And then he says this in verse nine for this, and he’s talking about this new covenant. “This new covenant is as the waters of Noah to me, “for as I soar, the waters of Noah “would no more go over the earth. “So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you “nor rebuke you.” Now, I want to ask you a question as a believer. As a believer, do you believe that God again is gonna flood the earth like he did in the days of Noah?
No.
No. I mean, you’re just laughing because, man, nobody believes that, right? But listen, he didn’t stop there. Listen to what he goes on to say. He says, “So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you “or rebuke you.” Now, if I ask this other question, as a believer, do you believe that God gets angry with you and rebukes you? See, a lot of people say no to one side of that scripture. No, I don’t believe that ever happened. But he says, oh yeah. But see, just like God is not gonna flood the earth like he did in judgment in the days of Noah. He says He’s not gonna be angry with you and rebuke you. That’s because Jesus took all of our sin and God poured all of His judgment and anger and wrath down on Jesus. That’s how powerful the cross is. That’s how powerful redemption is. He says this in verse 10, “For the mountains will depart and the hills be removed, “but my kindness will not depart from you.” Thank God God is merciful to us. God is kind to us. He says, “Neither shall the covenant of my peace “be removed, sayeth the Lord, who has mercy on you.” Thank God he is merciful. I don’t, I’m not worthy to receive all the blessings and promises and things I’ve got, but I’m not getting it because I’m worthy. I’m getting it because Jesus is worthy. So, what a prophecy of this covenant that we have with God, this new covenant. He goes on and gives us these promises. He says, “Oh, you afflicted” in verse 11. “Toss with tempest, not comforted “because I will lay your stones with bare colors. “I will lay your foundations with sapphires.” That’s promises of prosperity. “I will make your windows of agates “and your gates of carbuncles “and your borders of pleasant stone “and all your children will be taught of the Lord.” Praise God, I have three sons and you’re all taught by God. You’re all instructed by the Holy Spirit. You’re all saved, you’re all serving Jesus. You’re all connected in the local church. You’re all givers. You all have good marriages. You all have children that are healthy and strong. You’re all blessed and you’re all prosperous. Thank God for these promises. If you want to receive, we have a confession card that Mama Barbara wrote over all the scriptures that she spoke over you guys as children, or many of them. And we have this available free of charge. You can call us and you can get it at the church. I think you can even find a place at CharisChristianCenter.com to fill out to get this. But we have a scriptural confession card on promises for our children. If you live outside the continental United States, you can just go to our website and get that. Praise God and download those things. So, he says this, he says, “All of your children will be taught of the Lord. “Great will be the peace of your children. “In righteousness you shall be established. “You will be far from oppression.” I thank God that we’re established in righteousness. How do you get established in righteousness?
Faith in Jesus.
Faith in Jesus, in the gospel. You know, you can’t get established in righteousness without an understanding of grace or the gospel. I mean, it just doesn’t work that way. The gospel is the revelation of righteousness. So he goes on, he says, “In righteousness, “you shall be established. “You shall be far from oppression. “For you will not fear, “and from terror for it shall not come.” Listen, I don’t care what is going down in the world, we don’t need to fear and we don’t need to be in terror. You know, when COVID broke out, I had absolutely no fear. They were putting stuff on at the beginning, stuff on TV, don’t exercise too much. I thought, that’s a lie, they’re trying to kill us. If I have some type of virus starts attaching itself to my body, I go to the gym and run, or I run in my own garage if it’s too bad, you know what I’m saying? Run on my own treadmill or go around the neighborhood because doing that gets that junk outta my system, it helps me beat it quicker. And I just thought they’re lying to people telling ’em not to exercise too much. And so, and seeing people walking around out in the open air with masks, I’ve never seen stuff so crazy. And first of all, they said, “Well, the masks don’t do nothing,” which is the truth. But anyway, people still wearing masks years after this thing because they’ve got so much fear. They even still have ads on television, on livestream, created by some of these woke corporations. And they’re trying to instill fear in our children, children’s media. It’s terrible. Listen, we should not be instilling fear in our children. He says, “In righteousness, “you shall all your children be taught of the Lord. “Great will be peace of your children. “In righteousness, you shall be established.” Get established in the righteousness of God. “Get established in the gospel. “You will be far from oppression. “You will not fear from terror “it shall not come near you. “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me. “Whoever gathers together against you “shall fall for your sake. “Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals “and the fire that brings forth an instrument for his work “and I’ve created the waste or to destroy.” But he says, “No weapon that is formed against you “shall prosper. “And every tongue shall rise against you in judgment, “you shall condemn. “This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord “and their righteousness is of me.” Thank God, no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Every tongue that rises against you in judgment. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Every tongue that rises against me in judgment, I will condemn for my righteousness is of Jesus. I have the righteousness of Jesus. I am as righteous as Jesus is righteous. That may challenge some of you, but the fact is, if you are born again, if you’re a believer on Jesus, you are as righteous as Jesus is righteous. Because God imparted the righteousness of Jesus to you when you believe. He imputed it to you and he’s not imputing sin to you. That is the gospel. Man, that is the good news. This is the new covenant.
Yeah, this chapter is, you know, a redemptive chapter, but it’s really full of the power of God. Even from the very beginning of Isaiah 54, it says, “Sing, oh barren, you who have not born, “break forth into singing and cry aloud “you who have not labored with child “for more of the children of the desolate than the married, “the children of the married woman, says the Lord. “Enlarge the place of your tent. “Let them stretch out the curtain of your dwellings. “Do not spare. “Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes “for you shall expand to the right, to the left, “and your descendants will inherit the nations “and make the desolate cities inhabited.”
Amen.
God wants to bring life to dead situations.
Amen. And he does it when we begin to move forward, we begin to think big. Dr. Sumrall used to say think big. You know what, it’s expensive to think little. So many people think little. You know, Mom and I drive around, there’s a church here in town. They got little old dinky locations everywhere. Man, I don’t want a dozen dinky locations.
A lack mentality is very dangerous. A lack mentality will actually kill you.
Man, I think big.
Yeah, a lack mentality is costly.
Amen, it is. It’s terrible. It’ll cost you a lot of money to think little. Listen, he goes on and says this in Isaiah 54:4. “Fear not, you will not be ashamed. “Neither will you be confounded.” In Isaiah 54:4. I thought I’d read this ’cause we got the rest of it, we might as well finish up here, verse four and five. He says, “For you will not be put to shame. “You will forget your shame of your youth “and not remember your approach of your widowhood anymore “for your maker is your husband, “and the Lord of hosts is His name, “the God of the armies of Israel.” Amen, you preach a great message, Aaron, on the God of angel armies. He says, “And thy redeemer, the holy one of Israel, “the God of the whole earth shall he be called.” Well, what a marvelous covenant that we have. Those are really promises of the new covenant that Jesus established by His death and resurrection. And we are the heirs of the new covenant in Christ, amen. Go ahead, share something.
Amen. Yeah, I just encourage you to thank big to grow. Enlarge the place of your tent to, you know, we’re created to increase, not to decrease.
Amen.
There is a powerful side of redemption where God wants us to increase, not to decrease. If you look at, all the people that Jesus affected in His ministry on this earth, they all increased.
Amen.
None of ’em decreased.
Amen.
All his followers, they increased. They wanted to reach more and more people.
Amen. And you know what, you can increase. And one way that we increase, Proverbs says there’s he that scatters, there’s he that gives and it increases.
