Romans: The Revelation of Righteousness Part 10 Transcript
Praise the Lord, friends. We are gonna be in Romans 10 today, and we’re gonna be talking about salvation and how to receive the good things of God. Some of you are struggling with who God is, and it’s because you have not heard the true gospel. So if you open your heart today and receive the message, I believe you’ll begin to get a revelation of the goodness of God and the true gospel, so you can receive what God promises you. Praise the Lord, friends. I’m so glad that you’re here with us today. And I have Aaron, my son, and we are teaching today from Romans 10. I love Romans 10. Verse 17 says, “Now, then faith comes by hearing “and hearing by the word of God,” or, “Faith comes by declaration and declaration comes by the mouth of God.” Not all preaching brings faith, because all preaching does not accurately declare who God said that he is. Aaron, you got some great revelation on that.
Yeah, we have to hear from God. You know, you have to hear about Jesus, if you’re gonna believe in Jesus. You know, if you wanna receive healing in your body, you need to hear preaching on healing. You know, if you wanna be blessed financially, you need to hear good preaching. You need to hear what the word has to say about prosperity. You know, if people are preaching against prosperity, if people are preaching against healing, it’s not gonna stir up faith for those things, it’s actually gonna do the opposite. So, you know, it’s really important to be in the word of God, to be in a good community of faith, to hear good teaching, to tune into good preachers who really, you know, understand God’s grace.
Understand the gospel.
Understand the gospel.
Yeah, grace and the gospel are really synonymous when we look at the word but you know, when it says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the mouth of God,” or, “Faith comes by declaration and declaration by the mouth of God,” God declared who He was in the Old Testament and there’s this progressive revelation of God. And if you study the scriptures, you can see it. But God said, I’m your provider, I’m your healer, I’m your deliverer, I’m your sanctification, I’m your peace and your provision, I’m your righteousness, and I’m there, I’ll never leave you or forsake you. And those are the seven characteristics or aspects of the redemptive names of God. And when you really begin to understand who God is, it was a progressive revelation, you’ll understand that God provides, that God heals, that God delivers, that God gives us peace, that God makes us righteous, that God sanctifies us, and finally, that God is present. And He’s present in the person of Jesus. It took the whole Old Testament for God to say that. And then in Malachi 3:6, He says, “I’m the same, I changed not.” So He’s never changing from that. And yet we got a lot of people tell us that God is the author of death and destruction. And He’s putting bad things on people to try to… That is stupid. That is not new covenant. That is not New Testament. You don’t understand the grace of God. You’re stuck in the Old Testament. You’re stuck in the law and you need to get out of it. Praise God.
I love that verse two, you’re talking about faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. You know, there’s a scripture that talks about, they have ears, but they hear not; you know, having eyes to see, but they see not; having hearts, but they understand not. You know, you need to keep a heart that’s really open to God, open to His word. And when people are, you know, expressing the word of God too, you need to have an open heart, have open ears, have open eyes.
Yeah. So if we go back and we start in Romans 10, Paul, in the first four verses talks again about his love for Israel. And he said, “My heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel “is they might be saved. “For I bear them record, they have a zeal of God, “but not according to knowledge.” Now that’s like some of these people right now, they have a zeal for God, but it’s not according to the scripture. He says, “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness “are going about to establish their own righteousness “and have not submitted themselves “to the righteousness of God.” There is only one way to receive righteousness, and that is by faith in Jesus, because Jesus has done a complete work. And he says this in verse four, “Christ is the end of the law.” He is the end of performance for righteousness. If you’re trying to perform well enough to be saved, you’ll never make it. That’s why God sent Jesus. You know, the Bible says, if righteousness could have came by the law, Christ died in vain, Galatians three, I think it’s verse 21. Man, you just can’t do it that’s why God sent Jesus. It would’ve been pointless to send Jesus, if we could’ve been righteous by our performance. And the law was not God trying to make us righteous, the law was God showing us our unrighteousness. So when Jesus came, we’d give up and believe. Hallelujah. So what examples do you have, Aaron, of people trying to be righteous on their own people? There’s all that.
I think, I mean, even “non-religious” people that there’s a lot of self-righteousness out there in the world today. People who just say you have to do this and they make religions out of action. You know, you have to… It is just crazy kind of what’s going on in the world today. In Holland, the government basically outlawed cattle raising because it’s a sin to have cattle, because it hurts the environment. So they’ve made the environment a God.
And raising cattle doesn’t hurt the environment. That is the biggest bunch of–
It’s good to take care of land and water and take care of the earth, but some people elevate that above people, above God. They turn the environment into God. Environmentalism can become a religion where people have to do this–
They already have.
Yeah.
We all have all these liberal nuts that have basically taken the cost of energy and driven it through the roof when we got enough oil under the ground in the United States to last us a minimum of 200 years. And they’re just being crazy, and they do not care about the American people.
Yeah, and I have a background in classical music. And just during this pandemic, there were certain cities and like concert halls that made it illegal for you to enter that concert hall if you didn’t have a vaccine. And I saw friends of mine that were celebrating this, that people were losing their livelihood, losing their jobs because–
Oh, this has been–
They didn’t feel like they should get this vaccine. So they were elevating that vaccine above people, above people’s livelihood, that that’s such a religion to them. They’d wanna persecute–
And there’s a lot of people that have had problems from the vaccine, heart issues, blood clotting issues, major issues. I know a 44-year-old girl that died with a blood clot in her lungs. And she took the vaccine, all these crazy things. And you know it’s just stupid.
Well, people make a religion out of it and make it a dogma. You have to do this, if you’re gonna be accepted–
I know several people that have lost their jobs and this is not the way we operate in America.
No.
It’s ungodly to tell you the truth.
But to me, that’s a religion. That is a religion.
You want to take a vaccine, take a vaccine but if you don’t, don’t.
Yeah.
And that’s true.
Even the transgenderism out there, that’s becoming a religion too. And there are companies now where you have to state what your preferred pronouns are. If you’re a he, she, they.
What’s by your chromosomes? You’re either a man or a woman.
But entire company, entire universities, if you’re a professor that you have to state in your official title of–
In the beginning, God created them male and female. That’s what the Bible says.
It’s a religion. It’s a complete and total religion of–
It’s rejection of the truth. It’s rejection of God the creator, who made us a certain, specific way. And I don’t wanna harp on that because all sin is sin, but it’s just crazy. Now–
Anything is religion. It works if you’re elevating this above God’s way of righteousness.
There’s only one way to receive righteousness and that’s to believe on Jesus. He goes on and he explains it in Romans 10:5-6. On the church, people think, well, you gotta give, you gotta pray, you gotta go to church, you gotta love your neighbor. Those are certain things that people elevate in the church world, but you’re talking about the world and they do certain things. They have certain aspects of what they think, but there’s only one way to be right with God and that’s to believe on Jesus. He says this, “Moses describes the righteousness “which of the law, the man which does those things “should live by them.” So under Moses law, you had to keep the entire law to be saved. And a lot of people even now, I had a lady call me the other day and she said, “Well, pastor, why do we worship on Sunday “when the Sabbath in the Old Testament was on Saturday?” Well, the reason we worship on Sunday is because Jesus was raised from the dead on the first day of the week, because the Holy Spirit was sent 49 days later on the first day of the week, or 50 days later on the day of Pentecost, on the first day of the week. The church was born on the first day of the week and Paul said, when you gather together on the first day of the week, lay aside, such as God has prospered you. So, you know what, we worship on the first day of the week, because Jesus was raised from the dead on the first day of the week. The Holy Spirit was sent, and the church was born on the first day of the week, and Paul said, when you gather together on the first day of the week, lay aside, such as God has prospered you. Now, the Bible actually says in the Book of Colossians, let no man judge you in a respective of holy day, so on and so forth. So I don’t think it really matters, but ultimately that’s the reason we worship on Sunday. But the challenge with that, I said the challenge with law keeping, if you’re gonna try to keep the law, you couldn’t go over a quarter mile journey on the Sabbath day. That was a Sabbath day’s journey. Andrew lives in a neighborhood that’s Jewish, and they have certain places marked. You can’t go past this on the Sabbath. And a lot of the Jewish people, they don’t drive their cars, and so they’ll walk, and–
The thing with this religion is people use the laws, they bend them in their favor and they use them to put other people down. That’s the problem with that sphere of religion.
They have their own version of it. But James 2:10 says, “if you offend the law in one point, “you’re guilty of it all.” So if you’re gonna be righteous by the law, you don’t only have to keep the big 10. And nobody’s ever really even kept number one, which is honor God, nobody’s ever really put God first the way the scripture talks about it. The rich, young ruler came to Jesus. He said, I kept these things from my youth up, and Jesus said, well, you lack one thing. He said, what’s that? He said, well, go take your goods and sell them and give them to the poor and then come and follow me. And the first commandment is you’ll have no other God before me.
Well, the–
His money became a God.
The problem with religion is this, and Jesus kind of talks about this in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5, 6, and 7. Even if you do keep the law perfectly, you’re not gonna be righteous. Even if you kill all the cattle in Holland,
That’s pathetic.
And make cattle illegal, and people are pushing for that. They’re pushing… I’ve seen videos, like–
They were trying to have a law in the State of Colorado.
Like make people eat worms for protein rather than beef, because–
Some nut road up here in the State of Colorado, thank God it didn’t pass. But you couldn’t castrate a bull, and you couldn’t spay a heifer. This stuff is ridiculous.
The problem with religion is it’s not gonna really get you anywhere. And Jesus talked about this. Even if you keep the law, even if you don’t kill someone’s, well, I haven’t murdered someone, that doesn’t mean that you’re righteous. You could still have hatred in your heart for your brother. That’s what Jesus was talking about.
Yes, if you hate your brother, you’re a murderer.
You say, “Well I’ve never committed adultery,” but He said, if you’re lusting after another woman in your heart, you’re guilty.
If you look at her to lust after her.
You’re guilty, it doesn’t… God is looking at your heart.
Yeah, it’s the heart condition that matters. Now he explains right here in Romans 10 verse six and seven, how righteousness came. He says, “The righteousness of faith talks this way. “Do not say in your heart, who will ascend unto heaven. “That is to bring Christ down from above, “or who’s gonna go into the deep “that is to bring Christ from the dead.” So a lot of times people are trying to go to heaven, reach up to heaven. They’re trying to pray God down or they’re trying to bind up every devil in hell. What he essentially is saying here, Jesus already came from heaven. He already lived on earth, a perfect holy life, did no sin. He already went to the grave and conquered the devil and God raised him from the dead. So now the ball is in your court. The word is near you. He says in verse eight, that is the word of faith we preach in your heart and in your mouth. And he tells us that if we will confess with our mouth in verse nine, the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart, that God is raising from the dead, we shall be safe. For with the heart, confession is made under salvation. With the heart, man believes under righteousness and with the mouth confession is made into salvation. So when you hear about Jesus and believe the gospel and believe that God made Jesus Lord, when he raised him from the dead, you’ll confess, Jesus is Lord. Not because of some formula, but because you believe that Jesus is Lord. You cannot get me not to confess that Jesus is Lord. I confess that because I believe it from a heart level. So this is what he’s basically saying, is Jesus already made righteousness, right, standing with God, available to every person when he died and rose again. And if you believe it, you’ll confess Jesus, praise God. And if when you confess Jesus is Lord, you receive the righteousness of faith with the heart. Man believes under righteousness and with the mouth confession is made into salvation. So we confess what we believe because we believe it. We’re gonna be back right after this break. And we’re going to share more, on how you can operate in faith and receive the good things of God. Blessings. Friends I’ve been teaching from my series on “Romans The Revelation of Righteousness”. Romans is actually my favorite book of the Bible. And I teach this class. I’ve been teaching it for years at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park with Andrew Wommack. And so I’m teaching about the gospel is the revelation of righteousness. You want to get ahold of this? I have a book on it. I also have a four CD, mini teaching on it. And then most recently we’ve done the 16 teaching USB, that you can get just as we’ve been teaching it here on television. And so you wanna get ahold of this revelation. If you get ahold of this revelation, it will change your life. So “Romans The Revelation of Righteousness”, Thanks so much for being with us today. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy this great teaching and you’ll wanna share it with your friends. Blessings. We appreciate you. Praise the Lord. We’ve been sharing from Romans chapter 10 and we were in verse four, talked about Jesus is the end of the law for righteousness. End of performance. You know what, you can’t perform well enough to be righteous, that’s why God sent Jesus. And Jesus lived perfect in holy. He did everything for you. So now, you know, he died on the cross for your sins. He did no sin, but he died for our sins and he became a substitutionary sacrifice. We believe in the vicarious suffering of Jesus. And then God, you know, raised him from the dead on the third day and made him Lord. And if you believe that Jesus is Lord, you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus. And you know what? Nobody can keep you outta heaven. Only you by choice of what you believe about Jesus and what are you gonna do with what Jesus did for you. Now, when you believe on Jesus, the Bible says here in Romans 10 verse 11, the scripture says, “whoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” Praise God. We don’t have to be ashamed. Why? Because Jesus took all of our sin. He had paid for it on the cross. “But there’s no difference between the Jew and the Gentile. “The same Lord overall is rich under all who call upon him.” Man, God wants to bless you. God wants to help you. He wants to prosper you, says he’s rich. He wants to help you in every area of your life and all who call upon him. He says, in verse 13, “for whosoever shall call “on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” How do you get saved?
By believing on Jesus.
Praise God, period.
Yeah.
He is the only one who was God, who became a man, who did no sin, who God raised from the dead.
Yeah. I loved what you were saying about believing in your heart and just confessing with your mouth on the Lord, Jesus. And that we’re not gonna be put to shame, you know, sometimes we like to turn this into a formula, you know,
Absolutely.
These kind of confession type things. But it’s not. God is looking at the heart. You know, just recently, I told my son Fisher, he’s eight years old. He had a friend in the neighborhood who had an electric scooter, and his sister had one so he let Fisher borrow one of the scooters and they’d use these electric scooters running around the neighborhood, but he’d always give Fisher the slower of the two. The one that couldn’t take a full charge and they’d race and Fisher would lose and he’d kind of make fun of Fisher. So I actually told Fisher, hey, I’m gonna buy you a brand new electric scooter. And he was really excited. So the next day he woke up just, you know, saying, you know, telling his friends, my dad is buying me an electric scooter. So he was confessing that I’m, you know, my dad’s bought me this electric scooter. He believed and he was confessing, but it wasn’t like a formula for him. He was just really excited. It came from… Faith comes from a relationship.
Faith is knowing God. So Fisher knows you and he believes your word. He trusts you. So when we know God and trust what he says, we will confess.
And if I had lied to him, then he would’ve been put to shame. You know, all of his friends would’ve made fun of him they’d said, well, where’s this scooter? You never got it. But this is what Paul said. You are not gonna be put to shame if you believe on Jesus.
Amen. Now he goes on and talks about how people come to saving knowledge of Jesus in verse 14, through 17. And Aaron, do you wanna read verse 14 to 17?
It says, “how then shall they call on him “in whom they have not believed? “And how shall they believe in him, “of whom they have not heard, “and how shall they hear without a preacher “and how shall they preach except they be sent. “As is written, how beautiful are the feet of them “that preach the gospel of peace “and bring glad tidings of good things. “But they have not all obeyed the gospel for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report. “So then faith comes by hearing, “in hearing by the word of God.”
So what he’s saying, if people are gonna believe, they have to hear. And if they’re gonna hear, somebody’s gotta preach. You know, you don’t go look at the mountain and find out all there is to find out about God, you look into the word of God. And faith came to me when somebody came and preached the word of God to me. And I heard a lot of preaching before. I really heard the full gospel preached. And I got saved as a result. But man, I was missing out on a lot of good things. But when I found the full gospel, that Jesus not only wants to save you, he wants to heal you and give you peace and prosper you and help you in every area of life. My life was turned right side up and I started believing and my life has gotten better and better and better. Hallelujah. I know that God is not my problem. He’s my answer. It’s so good. Notice what verse 15 says, “how beautiful are the feet of them “who preach the gospel of peace.” We’re at peace with God through faith in Jesus. We’re right with God, through faith in Jesus. “And bring good news of good things.” The gospel is the good news of good things. God wants to save you. He wants to give you peace. He wants to heal you. He wants to prosper you. He wants to free you in every area. That’s the gospel. When you understand what the Bible promises. He says, “but they’ve not all obeyed the gospel.” Did you know you have a responsibility towards the gospel? Now, what is obeying the gospel? He answers it right there. He says, for Isaiah says, who Lord, who has believed our report? So believing the gospel is obeying the gospel. And you know what? If you haven’t believed the… You know, some people, even though they hear the gospel that God wants to heal you, they don’t believe it. And I believe in Jesus today, they didn’t question his ability to heal. They questioned his ability to forgive. But in our day, a lot of times they question his ability to heal so on and so forth. But religions just turned it around. But he says, “faith comes by hearing “and hearing by the mouth of God.” Faith comes when somebody comes and preaches what God said about himself. And we said this at the beginning of the broadcast, God said, I am your provider. Genesis 22. I’m Jehovah Jireh. He said, I am your healer, Exodus. And he talks about this in chapter 15, verse 26, Jehovah Rapha. I am the Lord who heals you. I am the Lord your deliver. Exodus 17, Jehovah Nissi. I’m the Lord, your banner. I am the Lord your sanctification. Leviticus 20:8, Jehovah Makadesh. I am the Lord, your peace and your provision. Judges, chapter six, Jehovah Shalom. I am the Lord your righteousness. Jeremiah 23:6 and Jeremiah 33:16. Jehovah Tsidkenu, the Lord your righteousness. And finally Exodus 48:35. The very last verse of Ezekiel, excuse me, 48:35. I am the Lord who is there. That’s my name. Jehovah Shama. Praise God. So he’ll never leave us or forsake us. Now when you study that out and then you go to the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus brought all those things to people and he revealed them. Then when you find, look in the epistles, you find out Jesus took up residence in you. So you have Christ in you. You have all those things in you in Christ. So faith comes by declaration and declaration by the mouth of God. You need to go somewhere and hear the word of God preached where somebody is preaching faith. They may have changed your life, changed mind, and you know what, God is no respect to persons.
And you can preach too. If you’re a believer, you can minister to other people. You can share your testimony. A great way to minister to other people is to just share your testimony. What has God done for you? Now there’s a gentleman that comes to church here. He loves to hike here in Colorado and I’ll see him like post after he does a big hike. He’ll go hike a 14 or a mountain that’s over 14,000 feet here in Colorado. And he’ll get 18 people saved just on one hike.
Just telling them about the goodness of God.
Just asked him, how do you do it? And he said, “I just start talking to him about the weather, “talking to him about the trail we’re on. “And then I just start sharing my story, “share my testimony and let him know that God loves him.” And he’ll get a dozen people saved just in one day. So–
We got a man here that was just raised from the dead. And he’s going around telling all his neighbors that God raised him from the dead. And man, he’s just shining. He’s like, you know, nearly 80 years old. Well, he is 80 years old. Praise God. He’s 81 years old and God raised him from the dead. And I could tell something, God healed something when he was raised from the dead, because now his clock is just shining. I said, man, it’s Herb Carter. God did something in you, Herb. And praise God, whatever’s wrong with him, God healed it when he raised him from a dead.
That’s awesome.
He’s going around telling everybody and they’re telling people. Praise God. Well, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Some of you don’t believe that, you’re like Thomas. Some people, well, they don’t believe nothing unless they see it. And Thomas boy, once he saw it, he said, my Lord, my God, I believe it. But praise God, I believe the gospel. And so he goes on and says some things here. And we could look at this in the gospel in verse 18 to 21. But he’s talking about how God used the Gentiles who received Jesus and who received the gospel to provoke to jealousy the Jews. Man, when you see somebody that’s operating in the goodness of God, the blessing of God, the favor of God, the righteousness of God, the it oughta cause you to be jealous. Man, I want it. I want the good things of God. And so he says, “have they not heard? “Yes, barely their sound went to the whole earth “and their words to the end of the world. “But I say, did Israel know? “First Moses said, I will provoke you to jealousy “by them who were no people, the Gentiles, “who received Jesus provoked the Jews to jealousy. “And by foolish nation, I will anger you.” But Isaiah is very bold and say, “I was found of them who did not seek me. “I was manifest to them who did not ask after me.” That’s what God did for the Gentiles when he saved them. He said, “but to Israel” he says “all day long, “I stretch forth my hands to a disobedient “and gain sane people.”
That’s awesome. I think I’ve heard… I believe that this prophecy is being fulfilled today. That God is provoking. Even the American church, by what he’s doing in other nations, you know, some of the biggest revival happening in the world right now is in the Arab world. In countries like Iran, in Egypt. Millions of Arab people who were formerly Muslim are becoming Christian, are coming to Jesus.
Hallelujah.
^ So I believe that, you know, God is provoking some people like we need revival here, you know.
Amen and revival is happening in America. Good things are happening in America. I’m so excited to be part of it. Praise the Lord. Well, if you need prayer, don’t fail the course.
