And in this broadcast, we’re gonna give you very practical ways to move into a blessed mentality. So stay tuned.
I am gonna talk today about the commanded blessing. This is just something that’s been on my heart and something that God just really spoke to me years ago, and it changed my life, radically changed my life. As you read your Bible, as you go to church, you need be really listening for what God is saying, the rhema word of God. God can be speaking something like a now word, something that’s gonna connect with your heart. Be very important for you to receive and just believe, and He’s gonna usher in revelation and blessing through that. But I was just reading through my Bible when I was 24. I was at a very low point in life, really struggling financially, relationally, in my career, just really stuck. And I was reading through Genesis 14. It’s in my daily Bible reading. And God just showed me that that blessing that was spoken to Abram from Melchizedek was available to me, that I am a blessed person even though I didn’t have enough money to buy furniture. I was sleeping on an air mattress, this is my pre-Heather days. Heather’s a testimony in my life. There’s no way I could’ve been married to someone as good looking as her. She’s way outta my league, not even playing the same sport. It’s a God thing, and it comes from this blessing. If you have Jesus, you are blessed. This message should resonate with every single believer here today. If you have Jesus, you are blessed. There’s only two types of believers, believers that are blessed and know it, and believers that are blessed and don’t know it. So that’s my goal for all of you, to know it and to even know it at a deeper level for God to really speak to you, to your heart today. And I believe God has a word for you today. Paul spoke this in Galatians 3:13-14. He said Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.” So when Jesus died on the cross, when He shed His blood for us… I love singing those songs of worship to Jesus, talking about what his blood has done for us. And there’s something so powerful about the blood of Jesus. It redeemed us from the curse of the law. If you study out the curse of the law, it includes sickness and a lot of sickness, even the law says sicknesses that are even mentioned here. And there’s hundreds of sicknesses mentioned in the curse. So we’re redeemed from sickness. Poverty is part of the curse as well. Lack, not being able to take care of yourself, of loved ones close to close to you, not being able to give to the kingdom. That’s part of the curse. Defeat, oppression, just being constantly beat up and being victimized all the time, that is part of the curse. And Jesus, His blood was shed for us so that we can be redeemed. That was the price that God was willing to pay for us to be redeemed from the curse of the law. And it says that Jesus actually became a curse for us, For it is written, cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith, and that is powerful. So we are blessed. If you’re a believer, if you have Jesus, you are blessed. And not just that, you are super mega blessed. The commanded blessing is on your life. God has commanded his blessing upon you to chase after you, to overtake you. You can’t get away from it. The commanded blessing is on your life. Let’s look at Genesis 14. I wanna read this blessing that I said really spoke to me. It became a rhema word. It just became this revelation deep in my heart. it’s not just enough to know something intellectually, not just to know something doctrinally, not just to know and agree with something to say amen to something, but it has to become alive. It has to become a living word deep within you. There are two things in scripture that God breathed His life into. He breathed His life into Adam. That is why mankind is different from all of creation, because God has breathed his life into our hearts. We have a spirit inside of us, inside of every single person that has been formed on this earth, every single person that has been formed in the womb, God has placed a spirit within them, something eternal within them. Every single person has something eternal inside of ’em that will spend eternity somewhere. And God wants that part of you, who you really are, to be in eternal union with Him. That is one reason why He sent Jesus, that whoever would believe on Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. Every person has that spirit that yearning for God on the inside of them. And you’re gonna see more and more people open up and be willing to receive the gospel, to receive truth, to receive Jesus. So Melchizedek… So God breathed into Adam. He also breathed into the Word. The Bible says that all scripture is inspired by God. In the Greek, that word inspired by God, it’s one word, it’s theopneustos It means it’s God-breathed, God numa, the numa of God. So the God breath is in us, and the God breath is in His word. And when the God breath in us connects with the God breath in scripture, it’s like a nuclear bomb goes off in the spirit realm. It’s the most powerful thing in the universe. So God breathed this word into me, into my spirit, and it became reality. It wasn’t just something I knew, something I thought about, something I agreed with, something I said amen do, something I clapped for, but it became alive in me. It became a living word on the inside of me, this blessing here. Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine. This was after Abram went and fought and got back lot and all the goods that were stolen by these enemy kings. And Melchizedek came out and blessed him, brought out bread and wine. He was a priest of God most high. And he blessed him and said, “Blessed, be Abram of God most high, possessor of heaven and earth, and blessed be God most high who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all. When I was reading it, it just came alive to me. And God said, “That blessing is yours, “Aaron, you are blessed by the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth.” Say this with me. Say I am blessed.
Congregation I am blessed.
By the most high God.
Congregation the most high God.
The possessor.
Congregation The possessor.
Of heaven and earth.
Congregation Of heaven and earth. And I wrote that blessing out on a note card, and I stuck it up above my air mattress at the time. And within one year, my life was radically different on the outside. It doesn’t take long for God to radically change your life, but it always starts with revelation. And notice it says Abram gave him a tithe of all. So what came first, the blessing or the tithe? The blessing came first. I tithe, that’s something that I do, that I believe in. I believe that there are promises attached to it. I don’t know why anyone want to receive these great promises that are attached and available to us as believers with tithing. But tithing doesn’t make you blessed. You are already blessed and you tithe because you believe you’re blessed. That’s your faith response. So he gave him a tithe of all. And it says, now, the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, take the goods for yourself.” But Abram said to the king of Sodom… I find it interesting. right after Melchizedek who is a type of Christ speaks this blessing to him, this worldly king shows up and tries to get credit for the blessing, tries to get credit for what God wanted to do in Abram’s life. There’s a lot of people that wanna steal God’s throne, that wanna steal His power, that wanna steal His truth, that wanna steal His lordship, but you can’t do it. This ungodly king was wanting to do that, and Abrams said to that king, the king has Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord.” Notice the language he uses. He heard the blessing, he gave, and then he spoke it himself. Man, what an awesome man of faith. He heard it, he gave, and he believed it and spoke it. He said, “I’ve raised my hand to the Lord, God most high, the possessor of heaven and earth? Man, that blessing, it was a word to Abram. He said, “I will take nothing from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, I have made Abram rich.” The blessing of the Lord, it is so profound, so powerful, so abundant that no one will be able to take credit for what God has done. God doesn’t want anyone… He doesn’t even want you to take credit for it. When people look at your life, when they look at your family, when they look at your peace, when they look at your provision, when they look at what God’s doing in your life, they shouldn’t say, “Wow, that guy’s so smart.” When people look at, they say, “Man, there is no way he’s smart enough. There’s no way he’s talented enough. There’s no way that school that he went to taught him everything to deal with that. Only God could have done that.” Abram didn’t want anyone to steal credit for that blessing that was on his life from God most high. So he said, “I don’t want you to take credit. I don’t want anyone to say that I’ve made Abram rich. Only God can say that I did it. So when people look at my life, I want people to say, “No one could have done this for Aaron. Aaron’s not smart enough. He’s not good looking enough to have a wife like Heather Perdue. His boss couldn’t have blessed him that much. His education couldn’t have taught him this.” I didn’t do it on my own. Only God could have done this. Amen. So we are blessed. If you have Jesus, you are blessed and your life should point to Jesus. People should see that there’s something different about you. It should point to Jesus. And I have another word for you today, that you actually have a covenant of blessing. It’s not just a promise, but it is actually a covenant of blessing. The commanded blessing is part of our covenant with God. Let’s go to Deuteronomy 28 and start in verse one. We should all believe this blessing. We should pray it. We should confess it. We should pray it over ourselves, over our children. It says now it shall come to pass if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God. I love that God speaks to us. God’s voice is not hard to hear. You have to listen. You have to turn out the lies, the sometimes the busyness. Man, sometimes just life can get so busy you just need to tune into what God is saying and follow His voice. If you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments, which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you. This is God’s heart for us, his covenant people. He wants his blessings to come upon us and overtake us. God is not holding out. It says because you obey the voice of the Lord your God, blessed shall you be in the city and blessed shall you be in the country. The blessing of the Lord is not dependent upon your location. It’s not dependent upon if you live in a red state or a blue state. God’s power, His promises, His covenant, it’s just as true for us here in Colorado as it is in Tennessee. You need to be where God’s called you to be. You need to hear His voice and do what he’s called you to do.
Friend, we’ve been sharing on the commanded blessing, but I have a lot more to say about the blessing of the Lord. In fact, I have an entire series on this, and it’s downloadable audio. It’s free of charge. You can get it on our website. So go there. Also, I have a great book on provision releasing supernatural increase in your life. I hope you get these resources. Blessings.
December, I found someone who say that Habitat for Humanity build home for the low-income people. And so I went and applied and they said, “No, we’re not taking the application.” Then January, God told me to call again the office. By May I was approved.
You got a five-bedroom, two-bath house within a year. It’s exactly what Jesus told you, and you said what you believed.
The devil can’t stop the blessing of the Lord. It cannot stop the commanded blessing the Lord. It doesn’t matter how many people try, no matter how many people they sway to their side, no matter how many people come against the covenant people of God. It doesn’t matter how powerful they are, what spokesperson they have paid to represent them and try to proclaim lies. It does not stop the commanded blessing of the Lord. As the Israelites were coming into the promised land, this foreign enemy leader wanted to hire a prophet to speak a curse over Israel. Balaam hired Balak to curse Israel. But the word of the Lord did not change. Balak said this in Numbers 23:19-20. He said God is not a man. There is someone greater than every person who walks on the face of this earth. God is not a man. He is God. And no man can change that. God is not a man that He should lie, nor a Son of Man that He should repent. Has he said and will He not do? Or has He spoken and will he not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed and I cannot reverse it. He goes on to verse 23 and says there is no sorcery against Jacob. There is no ungodliness. There is no wokeness. There is no political There is nothing, no divination against Israel. It must be said of Jacob and of Israel. This is what the blessing points people to. Oh, what God has done. God wants you to be blessed because it points people to Him. The blessing of the Lord, you should agree with it and believe for it and walk in it because it’s not about you. It’s about Jesus.
Congregation Member Amen. That’s right.
Oh, what God has done. The enemy cannot stop it. And here at the rest of this blessing in Deuteronomy 28:8. It said the Lord will command the blessing. Say command the blessing.
Congregation Command the blessing.
On you, in your storehouses, and into all to which you set your hand. Now I love that song we sang about tear off the roof. I’m gonna press through the crowd. My hand is gonna touch the hem of Jesus. When that power is flowing through you, when you have a blessed hand with your other hand, you can pour out that blessing on other people. Whatever your hand touches is blessed. As they lay hands on the sick, they are blessed. They will recover. As they lay hands on people and pray for them, pray for my children, they are blessed. They have supernatural protection, spirit, soul, and body. As I sent my hands to work, my work is blessed. It is not cursed. It is not wearisome. It is blessed. It gives me energy. I was tired getting up today, but I’m energized doing what God has called me to do. Amen. God will bless whatever He’s called you to do, whether it be work, whether it be ministry, whether it be parenting. Amen. And it’s not gonna become toilsome burdensome, unfruitful. Amen. That’s a good word, don’t burnout from what God’s called you to do. Heather told me I can’t burn out from raising my kids. I can’t just say “I’m done.” You have supernatural blessing on your life, supernatural blessing to all to which you set your hand. And He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. God gives us ownership. And the church as whole is too debt-motivated, too debt-motivated and not investment-motivated. I believe that things are gonna shift. This church is a church and a ministry that is investment-motivated, not debt-driven. We believe in investing into the nations. We believe in investing in churches, investing the gospel. Amen. And we’re not driven by debt. We’re driven by investing, driven by seed, time, and harvest. That blessing, that commanded blessing is on you. It is part of your covenant. God’s commanded blessing remains during the famine. Amen, this is a really important word for many of you today. There are things in life that fluctuate. Our nation’s economy, it fluctuates. Things change. There are cycles to things. There’s cycles to politicians. There’s cycles to the economy but God’s word always remains the same. His commanded blessing is unwavering. The commanded blessing remains during the famine. Let’s go to one Kings chapter 17. That blessing, it’s not based upon your location. It’s not based upon… It’s God’s promise. 1 King 17, it says, Elijah, the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except according to my word.” Then the word of the Lord came to him saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook. And I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” Ravens, I did a study yesterday on ravens. They are not nice birds. When I grew up in high school, we lived on the southwest side of town here. And there were these magpies in our neighborhood that would pester my parents’ two little dogs. They had two Shelties, Sparky and Sadie. They would swoop down and steal their food. And just because they’re just mean nasty birds. They’re the cousins of ravens. They just enjoyed just attacking our dogs, Sparky and Sadie. So God actually commanded these ravens to feed Elijah, to give to Elijah. It is against their nature at its core. You might be around some ravens. You might be around some really selfish, nasty, ugly, ungodly people. But that does not trump the commanded blessing of the Lord on your life. Promotion doesn’t come from the east, the west, the south. It comes from the Lord. So God can even use some nasty raven to bless you, to give you opportunity, to help you, to… He’s commanded these ravens. I’ve never met anyone who has a pet raven just ’cause it’s such a nice bird. So it says he went and did according to the word of the Lord, verse five, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The Ravens brought him bread and meat. Meat was probably hard to come by. Bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up. Why did it dry up? There’s a famine. There’s just things going on. It wasn’t ’cause Elijah screwed up. Sometimes when there’s a famine going on, you think, man, I screwed up, but keep listening for the word of the Lord. The word of the Lord came to him and said, “Arise, go to Zarephath.” God had actually already prepared the blessing for him. “Arise, go to Zarephath which belongs to Sidon.” and this is actually a very unusual place to go. Elijah was hiding, running away from Jezebel, who was this big Baal worshiper. There’s a lot of Baal worshipers here today. There’s a lot of prophets of Baal. These prophets of Baal who’ve gained political influence, these prophets of Baal that have this culture of self-harm, of self mutilation. And that’s part of their worship. But they didn’t stand a chance to the real God who answers by fire, and the real God today still answers by fire. But he used to go to Zarephath to Sidon. This is actually where Jezebel was from. She was from Sidon. She was a princess from side on. This is the mecca, the capital of Baal worship. He was to go there. And not just that, he said, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you. Jesus actually used this widow as one of his two examples when he preached his first message on the jubilee, on faith, on what God’s kingdom is about when he preached his first message at Nazareth. And when he got to these two examples, this example of this Sidonian widow woman. And Jesus said there were a lot of widows in Israel, but only one, only one was blessed, only one received, only one was Elijah sent to, this woman. And he talked about the leper by the name of Naaman, who was a Syrian general, but he listened to the testimony of an Israeli slave girl. And he received his healing. There were a lot of lepers, Jesus said, in the time of Elisha, but only Naaman was healed. It’s not about race. It’s not about where you’re from. It’s not about gender. It’s about faith. In the realm of the Spirit, God is blind to everything but faith. That is the only thing that he sees. He only sees faith. He doesn’t see gender. He doesn’t see political influence. He doesn’t see money. He doesn’t see education. He doesn’t see talent. He just sees faith. There is a commanded blessing on the jubilee. The Jubilee was a set time once every 50 years. And it’s a very special thing in scripture, very special thing in the midst of the law because it’s the only thing in the middle of the law that is not about you, that is not about your performance, that is not about your goodness, what you have to do. The jubilee is completely based upon God. And when God is giving this instruction for what to do during the jubilee, he even said it’s gonna catch people off guard. They’re gonna say, “Well, what do you mean? I’m not supposed to work. I’m not supposed to toil. I’m not supposed to sow seed, to prune, to do these things. And somehow my ground, my farm, it’s gonna produce for three years. That’s impossible. But he’s saying they’re gonna ask this, but the focus of that question is on the self. The jubilee, God put this here in the middle of the law to point people to the new covenant, to the new grace, to Jesus who is now our jubilee. People are gonna ask even today, “What do you mean it’s not about me?” And it says here, and if you say, people still say this, when they hear the gospel of grace preached, it’s still hard to believe. What shall we? Again, it’s the focus on yourself. What shall we eat in the seventh year since we did not sow, we did not gather in our produce? And God said, “The commanded blessing is there. Don’t worry about what you do.” Look to Jesus. Don’t look at what’s going on in the seasons, in the world around you, at whatever the King of Sodom is promising. Look to Jesus. The commanded blessing is based upon Jesus our jubilee. I will command my blessing on you in the sixth year and it will bring forth produce enough for three years. We have this promise in Jesus. He is still our jubilee today
